A week without my Boy.

Im so sorry. So many of us have been through it but when it’s you suffering there’s nothing anyone can say really. I always remember how sore my eyes were when my beloved Pete was put down. He’s the one in my pic. Be kind to yourself and wallow if you need to.

That’s where my head is at - I haven’t ridden our other horse all week, partly due to him ditching me on Monday and partly just CBA. Did you eventually get another one?

I did! I waited 4 years though. I was doing an ultra marathon with my husband and we passed through a field of horses. He is scared of horses and crept along the footpath while I said hello and had a quick chat with my new friends. It was the moment I realised I needed to stop filling my life with "other stuff", and go back to doing what I loved. I bought my new youngster a couple of weeks later.

I dealt with the grief really badly at first. I was angry with the world that I didn't get to see F into old age like I'd always planned. I threw myself into work and the promotions racked up, all the while I thought, cool that will fill up the horse fund for when I'm ready! Then I found the right horse for me. I hope you can get back into finding the joy from it, I think it can be a very lonely place at first.
 
My tiny little nephew is now 14 and is heart broken as is his 16yo sister 💔💔💔💔 my dad passed on the 20/3/22 and my mum has just moved into a nursing home.

Aww so sorry for your loss it does get easier but never leaves you. I still cry about my wonderful horse who I lost in January 2012 every time I look at a photo…they are always in your hearts. I always think of the song from the never ending story “electric dreams” and it makes me smile as he comes in my dreams sometimes 🥰

So sorry you have lost him, the memories never go away so you will have him in your heart always. I’ve had to PTS all of my 4 horses who were all a good age and all of their photos are on my wall so they are close by… it does get easier in time but you never forget.
