Anyone had any success with the project horses website?
I have just put my horse i've been trying to sell for a while on there for a lot cheaper than i've been advertising previously.. fingers, toes and hooves crossed!

I posted previously asking if my horse was over priced and came to the conclusion from the feedback that he definitely was!

Any help improving my advert or advice would be great as I am getting desperate to sell him as i'm off to uni in sept! aaaah

Do you think this is a fair price for the following??

He has now been reduced to £1900

15.2 Black thoroughbred gelding 5 yrs old
Broken last summer, brought on slowly and carefully. Hacks out alone or with others, has to cross main road to get to the woods so is used to busy traffic, tractors and buses.
He has been at livery on a farm so is used to busy environments, farm vehicles, children and dogs. He has a kind, friendly temperament and is lovely to handle in and out of the stable.
Placed 1st at his first competition, he jumped a double clear around a 2ft course of coloured fences including fillers and a wall. At home he has been schooling over 2ft 9 grids and courses with ease with masses of scope to go on.
Sadly I have not had the time to compete him further, he is an exciting prospect this year for someone wanting a project to bring on. He will make a fabulous eventer, he has 3 good paces and carries himself naturally on a light contact, started lateral work, he is bold and careful over jumps. Not strong out hacking or galloping in company, doesn't kick or bite, would make great hunter or team chaser!
He has a great attitude to work and is a fast learner who always tries to please.
Although he is still fairly green I am confident that with an experienced home and further education he has the ability to affiliate in any sphere.
Only for sale due to lack of time and funds.

He sounds like a really nice chap, I'm no expert but I think the advert is well written and he is a fair price.

If you have some decent photos to go with the ad I would think he will sell quite easily.

It may be worth putting him on Horsemart as well, I think that it's probably more popular.

Good luck! :)

He would have been exactly what i was looking........but about 3 months too late!!

But....totally agree with 3beasties....i would pop him on horsemart.....i didnt look reall on the project horses website....i dont know why but it has always seemed like a site for "hard work" horses that have been either messed up or need alot of work for the wrong reasons, your horse is just a youngster, not a nutter....so i would put him on horse quest or horsemart....or even freeads....i used to look on the freeads site every day.
Good luck....your horse sounds wonderfull and for a sensible price.....if i had seen this 3 months ago i would have been down with a lorry to come and get him myself :-D

This are the pics I have been using, what do you think of them?

Ha ha oh no don't tell me that!! I havent had any phone calls, so frustrating! he's been on horsemart for the last month and horsequest before xmas but for more money so hoping that reducing the price will get a bit more interest!

Personally I would ditch the second photo of him and replace it with a full body shot of him standing square without tack on.

I really like him :)

he looks lovely. i think get a recent one of him in his summer coat all shiney with some hoof oil on with tack off etc.

:-( :-( :-( he is a little cracker, if i had £1900 i would literally be jumping in my car now and coming to see him.
I agree......get a summer shot of him, a nice confirmation shot where he has been bathed, trimmed, hoof oil on etc.

I am gutted he wasnt for sale 3 months ago!!!

Seems a nice horse. Hate the project horse site and would not buy from there. We live in gloucestershire and the only problem we have is a influx of TB horses. Unless they sell for £1000 they tend to stay not sold. No idea why just one of those things

I like Project horses because I feel like you know more what you're getting!! That's where i've been doing alot of my searching though some horses have been up for a while but i think it might just be the advert stays up till it runs out.

Your boy is EXACTLY what i'm looking for and in my kinda price range... but I wont actually be able to buy till about august, so keep me in mind pleeeeeeeeeeeease if he doesn't go (though from the looks of him I don't see why he wouldn't)

:-)

I don't quite understand what there is to hate about Project Horses site. Anyway, for what it's worth I've known 3 horses now that have found good homes through the site, so why not try? It doesn't cost much.
I think it may just be a tough time to sell horses, hope you manage to find him a new home soon.

I think he looks lovely, how much was he for sale for previously? Agree with others that maybe project horses is not the best place to advertise him as it does attract a lot that have issues and he sounds like the sort that's ready to go out and do some stuff now. Horsemart or Horsequest would be better. Best of luck selling, I think it's a fair price

Try pre-loved i had my pony on there for 3 days then sold her to the first lady to come look at her!
Also had lots of calls over the next few days till the lady paid her deposit,
Good luck with your sale, i do agree that a side shot in summer coat will make all the difference, nice horse and a tempting price :O)

I really do like him a lot! I think he has nice conf too. Honestly don't know why he hasn't sold? Maybe the market is just really slow atm. If he was 7 instead of 5 I would be coming down to Cornwall from Scotland! - he really is a lovely boy.

Thats a lovely confo shot, definitely use that one, can you also get another schooling one. If I saw a winter photo I would be suspiscious that he had been for sale for ages and there was a problem.

Have you tried Freeads, I know a few people who've sold successfully on that one, also the Western Morning News. Perhaps miss out the TB bit in your ad for the moment as this may be putting some people off. He looks a lovely quality horse & should sell easily for that price.
