So I went to try two horses to share at the weekend (Sunday) after not having so much as sat on one for nearly 5 years! Was obviously apprehensive about getting on for the first time, but it all went surprisingly well and all came flooding back nicely.

Stupidly i didn't do any training beforehand, just did some light stretching. So I knew I'd be aching a fair amount (a LOT!) but it's been so bad I can barely walk! And it's now Wednesday and I am in complete agony!!! My inner thighs are something else, and I'm walking like John Wayne!

I don't know if I've done something serious to my inner thighs (pulled or strained something?)or whether it will calm down in a few days, my abs and my back ached the next day, but that has gone and the thigh pain doesn't seem to have subsided at all.

It is difficult for me to rest (my job is very active and I'm on my feet all day) so is it best to take a couple of days off or just work through it like I have been? I obviously don't want to make things worse!

Can sympathise here! I had my first proper lesson for 12 weeks on Monday and my inner thighs are definitely making their presence felt!
Not quite the same thing but I hadn't played badminton since may when I started again back in September. I went straight into a tournament playing from 10am 'til 5pm. Turns out this was a VERY stupid idea - I couldn't walk properly for about 10 days!
You've probably strained a muscle or two - 'Deep Heat' or similar helps and keeping moving, not running a marathon or anything like that obviously but I found walking around a lot did help to ease the stiffness. Took a good 10 days though!

Get some diclofenic (3 x a day) down you! You can buy it over the counter - the name is different but the chemist will give you the right stuff if you ask for diclofenic. You will then be able to work as there will be no pain and keep active but probably best not to ride in case there have been some damage to tissues.

Oldred - thanks, there is a chemys opposite work so will pop over on my lunch tomorrow!

I don't think i could take another week of this! The things we do for horses eh!

Don't know how age related this is, but when I was learning to ride 2 years ago I always had achey/sore inner thighs for at least 2 days after each 30min lesson (I was 45). Since buying my own horse and riding most days I hadn't suffered this problem.

However, I rode Sat and Sun after a 2 week break because of the snow and my inner thighs have been killing me ever since. Today they finally feel like they are getting back to normal (I'm now nearly 47 and was blaming it on old age :D )

LOL sorry, been there and done that on countless occasions! I found using a Heather Moffett seatbone saver really helped and stops it happening (for me anyrate). I really used to suffer if I didn't bother putting it on.

Now I'm riding nearly every day, so I'm in shape at the moment

Oh, work through it I think, its most likely things being over stretched, and will probably start to get better soon. What about hot baths and Radox?
