Hopefully the learnings from this will be proper, practical attire must be worn for trot ups e.g. yard boots and a hat. Imagine if that had been her head

Scrap it being a fashion parade, people can still wear a smart blouse/shirt and smart trousers if they must, but proper sturdy boots and a hard hat should be compulsory

I've seen photos from Badminton and they're in completely unsuitable outfits to deal with any situation which may occur. Likewise at Cheltenham racing last week there was some guy trying to lead up in a suit that was so tightly fitted he couldn't walk properly!

I can’t speak for dressage trot ups although in the picture posted by Louise bell everyone is in practical clothing (someone even has a hat on). but In showjumping everyone is just in breeches / normal yard wear for trot ups. Although most are in trainers (I think I’ve only trotted up in boots once and that was because I’d jumped off a horse 5 mins before).

I do remember though at one of the shows in Spain a horse got quite fresh in the trot up queue (was a very windy day) and went up and over. He hit his head on the concrete and sadly died so I’ve been cautious ever since.

i’ve Gathered it’s only really eventers that dress up in heels and dresses / unpractical clothes for trot ups. I agree it’s not safe as if a horse is being fresh it’s going to be a bit of a struggle to keep up in heeled boots and a mini skirt.

I know it seems unlikely, but this is one occasion where the eventers go all out with heels and bling etc, but the dressage riders are very low key, trainers, usually breeches or possibly jeans, the most exciting thing the dressage riders wear is usually a branded jacket.

I saw a few outfits the dressage riders put up and they would not be out of place eventing!
