My OH's mother has advertised her mare for sale in the local paper (equestrian special on a friday) for the last two weeks and not received a single call.

The advert reads....

15.1 hh Arab Mare by Shahpoor.
14years old has done endurance and polocrosse. Loves jumping. Good to box, shoe, clip, handle etc.
£2,500

It is accompanied by a nice confo shot of her.

I personally think that there should be mention of the fact that she hacks alone and in company, has never been lame and is generally the sweetest mare to do anything with.
Last year she was kicked in the field and left with a cut that needed stitching, she had it stitched with no sedation, or any restraint. She is a saint.

Any other tips?

May be a reason for sale? good conformation? UTD vaccinations, teeth etc? List exactly what she has done i.e. what distance endurance etc

There's limited wording on the paper ad so possibly can't go into that much detail

I've suggested she puts her on horsemart instead though....

For everyone's info.. she's for sale as daughter moving more seriously into polocrosse. Up to date flu/tet, worming, shoeing, regular back.teeth checks. Snaffle mouthed. Confo is typically araby, but good IMO. Straight mover.
Not entirely sure that OH's Mother will know much in the way of detail about her previous endurance career, but a friend of the family knew 'Rosie' previously and said that she was pretty successful. Been with current owners3 years - doing polocrosse, local shows and hacking. Literally NEVER lame.

So, armed with that extra info... what does everyone think of the price?

Price imo is way to high try dropping by at least £500. Just to put this into perspective for you, we bought our old arab mare back last year as a 15 year old for £1200. She has done all riding club activities, hunts, hacks alone/in company, lives in or out, snaffle mouth, excellent to load, shoe clip etc and has bred 4 foals all of which have had successful showing careers. She was advertised for £1500 for two months before we bought her; Arabs are not the easiest horses to sell as people are put off by thier reputation!

I read the initial advert and straight away thought she would be sharp. If you are not sure of her endurance record, do not put it as she should have a mastercard if she has taken part in competitive rides.

15.1 Arab mare by Shahpoor, 14 years. Hacks alone and in company. V. sweet nature. Good in traffic, box, shoe, clip, etc. Enjoys jumping, believed to have taken part in endurance rides. £2500

Will suggest it.. forgot to add that it is actually £2,500 ono. It's a case of home more important than price, so would think they'd be fairly price flexible, it's just they've not had any calls at all!

Not sharp at all, if anything slightly conservative with her energy. She is incredibly safe and will steady or slightly jazz up depending on the abilites of the rider. I tend

She definitely has taken part in endurance rides, very competitively. I'm just not sure that OH's mum has that record with her, or would that be part of her passport? Excuse the numpty questions, I know nothing about endurance!

I don't think they are looking to sell her into another endurance home; more as a family allrounder type.
