No never. As long as a sales receipt is made and signed between two people then this can stand in court if your sister didn't deliver the horse, not saying she wouldn't.
My dad brought us a very expensive static home to put on his land for us and they wanted full payment (a private couple, not a company) before delivery. He went mad with worry but he called his solicitor who confirmed that its normal for payment to be made first and a sales receipt signed by both parties is legally binding.
Get them to deliver in the week instead and get payment first
