history: 5 year old cob, backed at 4 then turned away for 6 months, then been hacking (walk and trot only) since
he has never been what id call 'light' in the mouth when i bought him, however over past 1-2 months i have moved to somewhere with a school and he became a bit more responsive to the halt aid (i ask half halt half halt then ask to stand) he has in past napped (spun and cantered for home) where he just ignored the bit completly, however i wanted to try school him in a snaffle to try get rein aids lighter, however he is just seeming to ignore it and today out hacking he was feeling a bit more forward than usual and when i half halted/asked him to stand he just ploughed straight through and just wasnt listening and it has really worried me, any suggestions on why this is/what to do? as in the school steering is fine and from walk to trot is also fine although i think he listens to my voice/seat more than the rein aid, it is just walk to halt, also out hacking going down a gear i have worries he wouldnt come back to me (although not going to attempt this atm)
