Advice please

Here's a compromise for your daughter.

Try picture not words. So put a photo of treats/mints/apples with the caption of "giving me ANY of these" will result in this (photograph of laminitic foot with pedal bone going through) and end up with this (horse with wings/knacker van/gravestone).

My sign would read "If you feed me you WILL kill me. Please do not feed anything" then below that "any problems call X on 123 or speak to yard owner. Thank you"

If you can get hold of some pictures of what laminitis can do the try to catch this idiot, show her to them & either explain that this is what you're trying so hard to prevent or ask her why she's trying to do this to your girl.

Has your vet suggested a different test for Cushings? One of ours appeared to be symptomatic, fortunately not laminitic, but 3 consecutive ACTH tests came back 'within normal range', although the levels were rising slightly. We had the TRH test done and that gave a reading of x8 the normal maximum, She is now on Prascend

Hi, yes she has had both tests and the vet was surprised that both came back well within the 'normal range'. The vet did suggest giving her Prascend when she was really bad last year and we did try for a couple of months, the vet came and did both tests again and there was no change in the results. We recently attended a lecture at the RVC on Laminitis (our vets are the RVC at South Mimms) and had quite a discussion with one of the experts about our pony afterwards.

She does appear to be a bit of a conundrum, especially when following her first bout of laminitis (about 15 years ago) in all four feet (she could barely stand- long story) after four or five days she doublebarrelled the breezeblock wall putting a large hole in the wall as she was fed up of stable rest

She is now 25 and will have the best of all possible care until the end. (Mind you today she was acting like a five year old - bucking and f*rting and charging round the field due to being late going out due to the frost).

I'd be blunter than pts, in case she doesn't speak the jargon. "Feeding this horse may result in premature death" ( potentially of the person feeding it if you get your 2x4 ;)

In all seriousness though, some people are feeders and the blunt conversation was probably exactly what was needed. Now a blunt note to ensure the point isn't forgotten.

Totally agree with this, and tbh I don't find your sigh blunt at all, it is simply stating a very important FACT about your pony.
