Was very nice of you xx

Right .... Where to start ?? .....

From the beginning I suppose .

Set off at 8.30 yesterday morning, Tommy all bandaged up and loaded like a little star as he always does .

After a few pit stops with the boys ( Yip had to take them with me as hubbie was working) We arrived approx 5-6 hours later .
Unloaded tommy and undid the bandages , Little girl came over with her mum full of smiles, Handed her the leadrope and she took tommy for a walk.... Whilst me and mum discussed tommy abit more . I had told her tommy hadn't been ridden much lately, He was at the beach last sunday and before that he hadn't been ridden in a good month or so apart from a small hack .
Schooling wise he didnt do much etc etc .

Put tommy into the stable where he made himself very at home

Rolled and ate some hay that was left .
The we decided to tack up , Tommy was no problem as ever . Took him into a lovely indoor arena where the surface was new to tommy , He had a lovely elevated walk shall we say
grin.gif
Tiarnan got on him and walked him around, Then trotted and tommy started to throw his head a little , Lady proceeded to say to me "does he always throw his head ? as this would put my daughter off immediately " ..... I said an odd time he would but I have only noticed him doing it since he came back from the riding school and it looks more a resistence to the bit ( riding school changed him into a straight bar happy mouth and its also a loose ring) I have also felt recently that he has a tooth coming through that is a little on the sharp side .

So they basically have said tommy is a head shaker , Which really gunked me .

.

I didn't even go into explaining that he had always been placed at showing in lead rein etc etc . I just said that was fine we will take him home .
Lady said no I don't think this is the pony for our daughter , hes great every other way but hes headshaking .

So cut a long story short, We loaded him up and travelled back up north .

Time wasters ? I dont know but what really peeved me off was the fact that they made such a snappy decision . I put my youngest on him and he barely shook his head at all , I mean he "moved his head" ..... Is he not allowed to move his head at all ???? Come on !

I am starting to already doubt myself

Ringing a "dentist" tomorrow for him and will get his teeth looked at , Also going to change him onto his little snaffle he had before .

For now tommy will stay put until he is sorted , perhaps end up keeping him who knows .
Feeling somewhat confused right now .

Sorry if none of that makes sense

They just sound like on of the millions of people who want a 100% pony and none of then ever are (maybe 99%

). It's there loss, Tommy's fab.
I hope you do end up keeping him.

Cant believe people would ask you to drive so far and then not even keep him on trial and give him a chance to settle. Crikey after such a long journey and in a completely new environment having not been ridden for a while if the worst he could do was shake his head a bit i would have snapped your hand off!
Each to there own i suppose, hopefully this is fate and he is meant to stay with you or a better more deserving family will come along.

Perhaps .

He didn't put a foot wrong , They explained that they would want something to show as well, I said that isn't a problem , Hes always placed and does super .

Obviously not enough

Well I personally wouldn't have wanted him to stay as they had already made up their mind if not quite quickly

I'll not be dragging the poor little soul around like that again for no one

He was so well behaved .

What the hell?????

What a shame

Silly people, I would have killed for a Tommy as a kid.

Fingers crossed you get something sorted xx

O dear - but better that he came straight home with you then instead of a weeks or twos time. I think a lot of people have very unrealisitc expectations of ponies - their children have usually had a few lessons on a half dead with boredom riding school pony and don't understand that a home kept pony is a very different animal - especially one that competes or shows. We have had similar incidents with our 2 ponies so they are staying with us until the right person comes along.

Glad he is back home with you - give him a hug.x

Nope , They had seen pics of him, sent a video and been in contact via email/phone .

I know perhaps you could suggest that I was being niave or they where about tommy .

But .... I was never more than genuine when I spoke of tommy .

"You" also could say that I have only myself to blame for dragging him all the way down .

But "you" do have to understand I want the best home for him .

oh dear
frown.gif

probably better to get people to come try him first? saves you the petrol!
maybe it's a sign of course :P

shocked.gif
I can't believe people would be like that
shocked.gif
, sounds like Tommy had a lucky escape really if they are that way inclined!

I can't believe that Colleen (My msn buggered up the other night and just froze couldn't do a damn thing and no credit in my mobile)

I'm sure you're bloody shattered after all that. It's fate playing it's way again
wink.gif

Hope you get the wee man the home he deserves. If I was a midget I'd take him
grin.gif

Some people?!! My first pony bucked like stink and refused to be caught most of the time - your pony sounds like a saint.
Wishing you better luck next time.

Oh God, It sounds as though you did the right thing taking him home, if you have any little niggles in the back of your mind they would have played on you for a long time.
What did they expect from a young pony after a 5-6 hour drive? A new place and new people!
He's an animal not a bloody robot!

HUGS to you and Tommy
XXXX

That is absolutely terrible! You know, there are people over here who would pay over the odds for a Tommy, and wouldnt expect a rocking horse either. I'm terribly sad for you having your time and money wasted, but at the same time glad he's back home, where he's appreciated for the fab boy he is.

I hope that circumstances will allow you to keep him. x
