I find it absolutly disgusting for a farrier to hit or kick a horse. The only way a horse is going to learn to accept the farrier is through kindness and patience, rough treatment is counter productive
My farrier is fab, but he does insist on me at least being on the yard area while he is shoeing my two, unless I am going to make coffee
, I like chatting to him because he generally has some good gossip!
He has never smacked or shouted at either of mine, but that is probably because they are well behaved.
The only time I would condone hitting is if they did something dangerous and this was the best action/response.
