Hi all, just wondering who feeds this mash?

I’m just starting to feed it in a quest to aid gut health and generally feed better quality food to my Clyde. How much do you feed of it? I’ve been reading the feeding instructions and trying to work out how much I need.

It’s seems a huge amount going by the guide.....I.e. 80-100 grams per 100kg of horse. So I reckon my Clyde will be 700kg therefore I could feed 700g...that’s quite a bucket load and that’s without the water added. In the end tonight, I gave her one full top spec cup and 3 cups of water. It was a bit sloppy but she seemed to enjoy it.

How much do you all feed? Thanks

I bought this for my biy but had him PTS before it could have any effect but he lovedd it. Like you i was surprised how much you had to feed, you have read it correctly, but you could split such a big feed in 2 I suppose

Yes, switched to it a few months ago for my three and love it so far

Um, not sure how much I feed weight wise - I feed one and a half scoops like picture below of dry volume to my big horse (plus some linseed) once a day

It does seem such a lot but good to know I’ve been reading it right. Suppose it’s just trial and error....I’ll see how we go over the next week. I’m feeding half a cup of linseed in it, plus nettex vip ulsa shield and Forageplus Young Horse Balancer.

My big horse is quite a poor doer so I guess with a Clydie you should be able to feed less. I feed it to fatty pony too (though only a small blob) and it doesn't seem to be too fattening in comparison to other stuff.

I dont feed that but do feed a similar feed thats also a 100gms per 100kgs, so my 14.1hh pony gets a big bucket of mash. I love that it puffs up so much and she thinks shes getting an enormous feed!

I looked it up.

£30 for a 15kg bag???

Can you guys explain why you are choosing this feed, I'm a bit stunned?

One bag lasts my three about 4 weeks, so I'm ok with that.

I choose to feed it because I like the ingredients and because Arty is fussy and is always on the lean side and it is the only thing I've found that she will reliably eat.

There’s no way I could afford to feed by the guide on the bag, I’d be paying a fortune each month. I’m all for giving it a try but at a lower amount I’m afraid. My mare loves it, which is great so let’s see how long it lasts.

My ulcer pony does well on it. I met the reps at Badminton last year and they told me 1 cupfull in each feed (twice a day). I actually feed less than that though. She doesn’t get much tbh - her feed is mainly chaff. It’s too expensive for me to feed loads if it but i seem to have the balance about right. I used to feed it with Agrobs chaff but every bag of chaff had stones in it and Agrobs weren’t very sympathetic so I changed to Thunderbrooks Healthy Herbal chaff. Pony does very well on this.

I'm cautious feeding anything by the guide, they always seem to recommend an absolutely ridiculous amount which I cynically think is so you go through it quicker and spend more.

It’s like shampoo companies doubling their profits by telling us to ‘repeat’

I’m also experimenting with how much water to soak it in. I’m leaving it 5 mins each time with various amounts of water as my clydesdale doesn’t like it too sloppy. It’s a work of art!

I wonder if Keyflow Pink Mash might give you the benefits you are looking for but be more economical? My stressy lad who previously had ulcers (both squamous and glandular) is looking fab on this and balancer alone. It is still a recommended feed rate of 100g per 100kgs but if you shop around you can find the 15kg sacks from £17 each.

I’ll have a look thanks. I’m not wanting to keep changing so I’ll see how I go with agrobs. Good to know though. I’m feeding it with a mug of linseed, salt, nettex ulsa shield and forageplus young horse balancer.

Equisupermarket (Titmuss) list prices on their site including delivery these days so the £29.99 includes delivery. When they used to list price and delivery separately it out it used to be £6 for delivery. I don't use the mash but the Musli is listed at £24, I pay just under £19 pounds.
