Ha! Thanks DD, we did have a bit less of the tight mincing trot yesterday despite everything, was a bit more like she is at home even with me just randomly bobbling along being a useless passenger. I think she liked having a caller in there for the first test actually, it seemed to give her confidence and that really helps her to stay a bit looser. She didn't even mind the freestyle music in the ring next door - last time I took her to a show where they had music classes running at the same time she spooked and got very afraid. Just need to arrange to have a caller there all the time then! :D :D :biggrin3: :tongue3:

We do have some homework from Adam around the trot work, I find her easier to get through in canter so up to now I've used the canter to sort the tension and then come back to doing her trotwork in training. After a few mins in canter she snorts a bit and lets go of her back, and then we can do anything. But obv all tests start with trot work so she needs to learn to just get cracking in the trot without needing to canter and sneeze ;) This week's been hopeless though so our homework has slipped a bit, so really quite delighted that she did all that without any direction from me :D

She can do a big trot with a bit of suspension appearing at home so hoping that addressing the issue head on will help her to start showing a bit more scope when we're out and about :cool3:

Not competing this weekend sadly. Was going to do the UA 80cm at Tweseldown, but £69 for a class I might not have got round was rather stretching the wallet! Think I'll save our first 80cm ODE for a PC event where entries are half the price :D But did have a good PC rally last night, somehow ended up in a group with a couple of littlies, think someone new must have been doing the groups, as I usually end up in the older group that are competing at 90cm even though I'm only at 70/80 with Henry at the moment. But since it was with my normal, fabulous instructor, she knew how to make it work. Height wasn't a big problem anyway as we were working on tight turns and technical lines. Henry was great and didn't put a foot wrong, he felt amazing and I think we're finally working each other out. Have another group lesson with some friends this evening :)

Hoping i can join in with the round-up as didn't log in earlier!

Have spent the last week (since Tuesday) camping in my lorry at my instructors yard whilst i was on my HGV driving course which was closer to them than home (by about 40 miles!) have been up at 5am every morning to muck out turn out and then drive 1/2 hour to be in the truck at 7am. Finished at 3.30 each day so back in time for a lesson (2 jumps and a flat). She's been going really well but have been hit by a bout of 4'fault'itis always at the last upright (either last fence or second to last) so worked on what i'm doing differently to these fences and how I can prepare better. Flat session on Friday was good; quick warm up then ran through the test for Saturday (Tweseldown UA90) few things to fix and not do then ran through again with points in my head for the following day, main thing being; leave her to it and and stop faffing!!

Not too early start Saturday as T'down is closer to theirs than home and dressage didn't start till 10. We were 3rd to go for dressage so no fear of running late and fudging the warm up again. She did a super lovely test, i sat still and didn't interfere and she stayed calm even when the red arrows flew right over our heads in formation part way through our test, making a defining roar!

Straight to Showjumping, warmed up well, and almost straight in again. Called my dressage score and was a bit blergh about a 30, compared to other tests this year felt it warranted a 20something. Jumped 1 to 7 brilliantly, jumped the uprights like fences not stick piles, then left handed down hill to the double, my mind just went blank and I did NOTHING, literally nothing (!) unfortunately she just tapped out the front bar with her back end :( jumped the last few in some un-organized fashion but managed to leave them up.

Bit disappointed as I keep letting her down showjumping so have resigned myself to a winter of BS. Quick change under a tree and went XC straight away, forgot my stop watch so was worried about the time as we're either too slow or WAAAY too fast but with all hopes of a rozzie now out of my mind I wasn't too worried and just went for the fun of it. She was awesome, all the way; just running and jumping and came home clear and inside the time to boot :D

Ended up leading the dressage the whole day with no-one breaking the 30 barrier so that pesky pole lost us the win (again!) but managed to hang in there to finish 6th. Bitter sweet finish, but so proud of Ruby who is just fabulous even with such a numpty rider, very excited about her future. Hopefully heading to Bricky BE next month and then MAYBE Dauntsey, and then after that may make the leap to 100 at either Aston or Tweseldown UA to finish the year :D :D

No piccies yet :( will order some tonight!

Yay for super Rubes :D That really was quite loud when the planes flew over! Really well done, she's just doing so well this season.

Good trip out for Kira today, I can breathe a bit at last so we did our trot homework and then looked at the 5 loop serpentine from A100 for the first time. Some work to do on the change to the right, she gets a bit backward around the loops and then it's hard to get her straight and forward for the change.. the left to right has always been harder because she goes before me when I touch the rein. But with a few goes, I got the measure of how to ride her around the turns and then she does the change without an issue... it's really all about straightness and throughness with her, there literally ARE no other dramas :o I think it won't be too long before these look a bit more polished.

Fun stuff starts about half way though ;)

Fabulous stuff Lpip! Sounds like an awesome outing all round after a very busy week. Red arrows didn't help you out though, blimey!

Great weekend - did some jump schooling at home on Friday, nice long hack yesterday and then a flat lesson today where we worked on finding our best working trot, lots of transitions and got a bit of homework! The boy canters slightly quarters in on the left rein so I'm to go away and begin to establish shoulder fore to try and straighten him up a bit. Can't beat eyes on the ground

Sounds like alot of you had a good weekend, our slight cough on Friday turned into full blown snots yesterday so dressage was off the agenda today. No temperature and eating well, but will get the vet tomorrow to check him over anyway.

Went to Blair Horse trials. Bought a horse. Nothing that exciting really... :o

Don't leave us hanging - who's the new horse then? ;).
Kira looks mega MP, I luff her <3.

Hack with new girl went well, changing the bit has made a massive difference. Still a bit joggy/bouncy/silly when we first hit grass but she settled reasonably quickly and we could actually manage to go back to walk from trot today! I'm finding her a tad too sensitive to my seat at the moment - she's certainly highlighting that I am incapable of sitting straight :p.

Wow LP, you and Ruby just seem to be going from strength to strength. Fantastic result, particularly since half the sj course went a bit blah. A winter of BS sounds good to me - I just don't have the horse for it ATM :D

Oh so grown up MP! She's just such a sweetie..."hey mum I can do these tight turns real good if I do this running thing with my back legs" "no honey you have to canter properly - 3 beats not 4" "oh ok, I'll try....hey look I did it"

Exciting FW....eagerly awaiting details. A bay cob....?

Yes a bay cob but not the bay cob I made the offer on 2 weekends ago as they've messed me around and dragged it out for so long I am starting to think it's lame or something.

Thanks DabDab, she is so super it comes easily for her, I on the other hand really have to work on not being such a numpty! :D

Sooo....FW, it's Wednesday.....??? (You did promise :p)

And erm, upthread you'll read that my weekend plans involved a trip to malvern sales, where I was mainly just seeing what was available, would maybe register as a buyer if there was something suitable for the OH as have a little money, but not really enough, so wouldn't take lorry as unlikely to buy anything. Well I bid on two nice big IDs for the other half but didn't have enough for either (no surprise), and then at then end of the sale a 2yo Connemara X came into the ring......almost all bidders had cleared out, her write up was appalling and she was clearly straight our of the breeders field and pretty terrified by the whole experience. So she was under the hammer for next to nothing....well I just couldn't leave her there could I now???

So, I now have another undersized filly at home with me. It was also my mother's birthday today so she merrily waltzed in to meet us to go out to dinner and said "so I hear you've bought me a pony" (she's not remotely horsey). Horse had no name so mum got to name her......introducing Pebbles:

Aww Pebbles looks sweet well done you!

Aye well I've got the name of a horse transporter that no one should touch with a very long barge pole to distribute if and when the poor horse ever gets here... now meant to be 9am today, however it was 9am yesterday too, and 9pm. And 5:30am today, so I'm not holding my breath :(

Aww hello pebbles! What will you do with an undersized filly now?! Hope you have lots of fun with her. Hubby must be a bit put out hee.

Meant to be here yesterday morning, then last night then today at 5:30am but missed the boat so then said 9am but of course I was up at 5:15am before I knew that, he's now phoned and asked if 10am suits me.

Does it SUIT me?! The. Mind. Boggles.

didn't you tell him that the good people of HHO have been in suspenders for DAYS waiting to see this horse?! :D

I felt *quite* pleased with myself that I didn't say anything just that he should drive up the track and not cross the grid. Phoning ten minutes before they get here. That could be Irish minutes tho, which I now believe is different!!!
