has got me thinking. How long til we are all moaning that its dry and baked and theres no grass/no shade/cant jump as ground too hard? :D

^^ as above!

I am nursing another abscess!

The issues from the last one are only just going!

My farrier is going to love me!!

Wow! I'm surprised some of you are out. At our yard we never let the horses out when the ground is so saturated it completely ruins the soil yet the owners cant seem to understand this. Nothing worse than seeing them galloping up and down cutting up the ground.

Our land is fully managed and wont let any heavy animal out in this sodden weather, its a sad state of affairs but if they want fab summer grazing and a low weekly rent then they have to accept this.

If the weather follows this wet pattern over the coming years (which I think will) then we are all have to accept that they have to keep them in for weeks on end and if necesary they will have to be ridden more frequently or walked through the lanes.

My horses are out and have to say they don't gallop up and down, they may have one hoon a day at the very most but it is short lived. I wouldn't be on a yard that couldn't give them 24/7 all year round turnout as that is how horses are meant to live. Not stuck in a stable looking at turnout hoping that the summer grass will be ok.

Well we never had a dry spell last year and I for one won't be complaining!

Yes we did. I remember my sister wearing shorts whilst grooming for me at Munstead BE in March and the ground was hard until suddenly the heavens opened and the rest of the season was a wash-out :(.
