If anyone can see ash, it'd be those in North Scotland,
Its overcast here and I'm trying to get my boss a flight back from Mumbai. He's due back early hours tomorrow and they won't say if the flight's going or not, and all other flights are full over the weekend![]()
British Airspace is closed incoming and outgoing and is not likely to re-open until 6am tomorrow. The only flights will be emergency flights, which I take to mean Military.
Your boss will just have to be patient lol!
Having spoken to him he's resigned to not flying back tonight but I have a feeling he'll be at the terminal first thing tomorrow. There is a flight back via Munich Friday night but if the clouds over Germany by then he's stuck there!
You may well go eek!On the BBC earlier they talked to the pilot of the jumbo that went through a volanic cloud in the 80's, although they managed to get all 4 engines restarted the were so badly damaged they were scrapped!![]()
My daughter is stuck in Iceland itself, on a geography trip - eek! Already had an 18 hour coach ride detour as the road to the airport had to be dug up due to the glacier melting, meant to be home tonight and now in nice hotel - and she's the only one with money left. They were all told to take a maximum of £100 but she missed that bit (always on her own planet) so told her naive father that the others were taking £200 as Iceland is so expensive.Update on my daughter and friends in France, due back this evening...
Easyjet have guaranteed them a return flight on Monday, which is marginally better than Wednesday, which is what they originally offered.
They were all really worried, but feeling better now that Easyjet have put them up in a hotel with a swimming pool, all expenses paid until they can get home. How's that for good customer service! Wish I had been delayed in Nice today!
