I need to shorten my tweed jacket by about 2 inches.

Should I take it to a tailor/invisible menders or just turn it up myself. Do you think it would cost a fortune to have it done?

Sorry, daft post I know but am in a dilemma

I'd be inclined to pop along to a tailors and ask them what they would charge. If it's not too much then probably better to let the experts do it!

Thanks - I know that is the right answer but was just hoping someone would tell me that it was easy to do and I could therefore get away with the cheaper option!

Definitely take it in to be done.

i am taking mine next week to get the waist nipped in. if i did it i'd probably stitch the arm holes up or something!

When I bought a jacket from Mrs Candy, being a short arse, I needed sleeves, overall length and the shoulder to waist length shortened - result I finally have a jacket that fits me perfectly.

You could try giving Mrs Candy a call about altering your tweed, I am sure they do this for others than the ones they sell (though could be wrong).

If it is just the sleeves, and if you are good with a needle, then DIY job but anything more, get someone to do it for you who knows what they are doing.
