Question in title, it's for our blind dog who has a self inflicted wound on his flanks from stress (moved house 2 weeks ago when he is nearly 10 and always lived in the same place). He is settling in now although we had a couple of set backs with the in-laws invading to do lots of painting which meant I had to take him with me to stay at my mother's house for the weekend to keep him away from wet paint!

He is getting better and better every day with a little help from a prescribed calmer, however because he has already done the damage on this wound, if he is left alone he sometimes decides to chew a bit more. He can't wear Elizabethan collars as they disorientate him too much, currently we have him in an old t-shirt but it's not enough to stop him overnight if he gets stressed. I'm happy to give anything a try, also if anyone has any ideas to help him settle in more smoothly they would also be greatly appreciated. :)

We roll up an old tea towel and put ducttape round it so it doesn't unravel, then we thread a collar through it, stops them turning round.

Please please please make sure you can get 3 fingers all the round under the towel though so that the dog can breath :)

Funnily enough I was just looking at the comfy collars, glad to hear they have been used with success, will do the tea-towel thing tonight for sure and also looking at the dog tankies. The t-shirts work to a certain extent but a proper dog shaped one would be much better!

aww i symapthise! My poor deaf lass got speyed a couple of weeks ago and the cone collar was just too much for her to bare. Ive heard the pro collar inflatable ones are good. I ended up just being with my girl 24/7, didnt sleep for a few nights keeping her away from the wound:o

A little doggie onesie . . . Dinks came home in one after her spay and it worked wonders. She could pee and poo in it, it fastened with velcro so was easy to take off/put on and it looked adorable! I hate buster collars . . . so do my dogs, LOL.

P

P.S. Edited to say - when I say she could pee and poo in it, I mean she was able to go OUTSIDE and pee and poo in the garden . . . not that pee and poo collected in the onesie like a giant diaper/nappy (ewwww)

Our vets have a collar not sure what called but they basically go round like a collar but in a slightly wider part behind neck and just velcro under. It is an inflatble thing inside and a tough outer-even my cat can't pop it!!
