Why is this the case with so many horses?

Genuine questions as sometimes it baffles me- is there some hidden meaning behind "always snaffle mouthed?"

:)

Think its supposed to imply that the horse isn't strong, so it can always be ridden in a snaffle no matter what discipline they're competing in or if they're hacking etc.

It does confuse me though as my horse is always ridden in a snaffle but is very strong, I just try to deal with it by riding than by bitting up ..... So I could say he's always snaffle mouthed but that wouldn't mean he's not strong lol :o

So does "always in a snaffle mouth" mean the said horse has a sensitive mouth or the riders are extremely good and can ride through strong moments haha?! I can understand if a horse is just being a horse and is strong when scared or when you go hacking and hit grass, but if a horse is strong all the time surely other bits can help? In no way am I condoning not trying to fix the problem just by putting in another bit but sometimes they can really help :)

The amount of adverts I see that are like "always snaffle mouthed" just makes me wonder what is going on haha!

Doesn't mean much to me. There are plenty of people who only ever ride in a snaffle but end up pulling their horse's back teeth out.

Personally I quite often hack in a pelham with double reins. Not that I can't stop but I like to have a little something extra there in case of emergency.

To me it means that they can be ridden during any activity, hacking to hunting, in a snaffle without being strong.
