OK - one of the first rants of the New Year.
Yesterday lunchtime my newish neighbours left a message to say they would be having a few fireworks at midnight. Resigning ourselves to a night in OH and I grumbled to ourselves but opted to go out and check the neddies at midnight. Left the lights on for them so they didn't fall too deeply into the land of nod and get woken up with a shock
My neighbour's bungalow is set into my land so their small garden is about 30 ft from my stable block and they have vehiclar access to their house across my drive, so you're getting the picture - it's all pretty close and compact here.
At midnight they let off some whopping fireworks. By 12.20 I popped my head over the fence and cheerily asked if there were many more as one of the horses was going absolutely ape. Just a couple of minutes more was the answer, so we dug in for a bit longer. By 12.40 OH lost his temper and ended up having an arguement with the lady of the house. TBH, my oldies weren't too bothered, but the ex-racer was going insane, sweated up, kicking his box out, weaving like a giddy, etc.
I smoothed things over with her partner, but TBH, I'm not best happy. These were HUGE fireworks and 40 minutes worth, about 30 ft from the stable. My son was also woken up by them.
Now, the poser - am I miserable old mare begrudging people a good time, or would you have been slightly peeved in my position?
Happy New Year Everyone
