Am I right or wrong?..

Just a very brief update and sanctioned by our new forum member (welcome by the way @mindtheGap). Her own words below: I am sure at some point in the future we will be updated and all will become clear, in the meantime I am sure many of you will join me, and also wish @mindtheGap every success with her claim going forward.

If you want to update the thread to say simply that Rio is fine and well and loved, that Goosey's account was inaccurate, that I am proceeding with a formal claim under the CRA, and that I will update the thread once the case is resolved - I would be fine with that.

Yes her name is Shoncee Goosey. This is not the first time she has been in trouble for miselling a horse. The other time it involved a child with cerebral palsy sadly.
 
No lumps or bumps ? Proven incorrect ? Sorry but as you said you’re a reputable dealer and state no returns ? Sorry but what makes your business any different to any one else’s when they want to return ? If I bought an item of clothing that was damaged I’d expect discount/ to be returned. You also have different adds for multiple horses which don’t add up ? Sounds like owner wasn’t asking to be returned just a discount on price which is understandable. That discount price could go towards treatment and hopefully the horse can stay in a good home. Why make things awkward when it sounds like a horse has a good home? Sadly your claims sound like your putting profit before welfare. 🚩⛳️
 
Actually asking for references is very sensible. I now ask people to send me a video of them riding before they’re allowed any where near any of my horses. So many people think they’re fantastic riders just because they’ve had a couple of lessons on the old faithful at the local riding school. Friends of friends will tell me they’re experienced horsemen/women and on enquiry say they’ve ridden for years. What they have done is an hours group lesson once a week if they’ve had the time. No stable management and they might or might not be able to tack up. Sadly these days it’s frequently necessary to do a little ‘digging’ in so many areas. We live in a ‘good enough’ society where anything may be good enough not the ‘aim for perfection’ society of our grandparents where the majority went the extra mile.

A friend runs a riding school and now won't take adults, only kids. Reason being is adults ride for 6 weeks and then just go and buy a horse. Kids stick with a programme a lot longer.
Horses in past were not so assessable. They cost more, less livery yards etc.
i don't think riding schools are so assessable now. That spend the day helping out culture has gone. Encouraging people to help has gone as it's all had to be more professional with wages and kind of rightly so as a big hole between useful volunteering experience and exploitation.

Yes I saw this too. Interesting idea and certainly it could have some merit if used in a genuine attempt to protect reputable sellers and with a few tweaks here and there, the buyers too.

I would be interested to know how many of this particular dealers previous customers are currently trying to reach some sort of mutually satisfactory after sales agreement, that said dealer are now classifying as 'undesirable' and incompetent buyers. If a similar pre viewing criteria is adopted by all dealers could it be used to demonise any buyers that become disatisfied with their purchase and try to return the horse for refund?

However, I reserve judgement on the face value of the FB post given the thread started on here by the same individual and it's ongoing consequences that may have possibly highlighted more questionable horse or pony sales by one dealer in particular.

It could well be seen by a cynical reader as a wonderful free pass to declare any complaints from dissatisfied customers prior to this rather self righteous and self congratulatory declaration by the dealer, must all be from incompetent, novice and dishonest newbies to the horse world. And their dissatisfaction is all their own fault and nothing to do with the dealer who sold them their new horse or pony.

Call me one of those cynical readers, but I will look forward to any future updates as they become available for public consumption.
 
I don’t know, dealing horses in the category that LF does will be a headache in this day and age even for the most reputable. I’m not surprised at their statement.

Regarding the horse in the OP - there are 2 sides to every story and usually the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Dealing horses, you will always get it wrong sometimes. Either by way of a mismatch or by being duped yourself in what you are selling on. Your overall profit margins have to account for a percentage of your horses being returned/non-profitable.

On the face of it, I don’t have major red flags looking at LF Facebook page. The horses are shown being ridden mostly quietly, a little ineffectively, not over bridled. Conformation on most is not the best, but for allrounder jobs probably sufficient.

I agree, on the face of it, the FB page does look all shipshape and hunky-dory doesn't it?🤔 However, as previously posted I will look forward to any future updates as they become available for public consumption as I am assured they will.
