They actually are F*cking useless!! Poor guy will probably have to come home though! however im pretty sure the helmand province is so much more dangerous than iraq at the moment.
 
What a shame, though if he dyed his hair dark brown no-one would be any the wiser if he stayed there.
I find it strange to watch him as one of my sons could be his identical twin..Slightly blonder hair than his red but same eyes/face etc. He'd be good in battle too, he's a tough devil. When they were at primary school they were telling the rest of the class their hobbies. The girl next to Chris said "I breed bunnies!"
Chris next said "I shoot bunnies.."

She had to be taken out of the classromm crying she was so outraged.. I can imagine Harry being like that too...
 
I find it hard to believe that he has actually been right on the front line for any period of time........Is this appropriate for the 3rd in line to the throne??

If you look back in history then our royals have always fought in the front line for centuries and centuries...dangerous but its not like hes next in line
 
Course it's appropriate, how do you think the Royals ended up being in the position they are now?
Many years ago they must have been the toughest lot going to rise to the top ...
If anything happens to him there are a lot of them waiting in the wings, the succession line is huge!
I admire him for having the guts and determination to show he can serve his country.
 
Personally I think it is great that he is mucking in like a normal citizen.

I just wondered if it was seen appropriate in the eye's of the other royals, the government, the general public. Because I seem to remember there has been a bit of a fuss from people that were not in favour.

Also I doubt they would let William fight so it's not necessarily the case that 'royals' all fight.
 
I was stunned at the news - not because Harry was in Iraq, but because this leak could have compromised the safety of not only him, but all of his fellow soldiers fighting alongside him.

He should absolutely be there though.
I cannot imagine what it must be like to publicy live your life in your elder brothers shadow. He has no role and no destiny.
Harry will always be second place to William, and so has to find HIS niche in life.

Good luck to him I say.
 
No but Andrew fought in the Falklands war, and go back far enough kings led their troops into battle (Cry God for Harry, England, and St George!)
He's just an army officer, who wants to do his job.
I just wish the scumball who decided to make it public could be airlifted to Helmand Province without delay.
 
I'm not sure it's the Taleban that he should be worried about anyway....more the trigger happy yanks who have an outstanding record of killing their allies in recent years

I do. I also think that the royal family, or the queen in particular, have done enough to be shown some respect, at least as much respect as you would show to anyone else. How can you call Harry a twat for signing up the the army, then fighting in one of the most dangerous places in the world? I really don't understand your reaction, or what their ancestry has to do with it. you can call me a German/Welsh throwback if you go back far enough.

Whether you like them is neither here nor there but the Royals do a fantastic job for this country and if P Harry is doing his bit in that God forsaken place alongside other soldiers from this country then he deserves all the support we can give him; exactly the same support we would give any other person in the Armed Forces.
Why can't you be a bit patriotic for a change instead of moaning about them, what have they ever done to you that you are so vitriolic about them or are you just waiting for us all to bite back - in which case I've fallen well and truly into the trap and have egg on my face!?
 
I think it is fantastic he is out fighting for his country which is all he has ever wanted to do. I have the upmost respect for him. His mother would be extremely proud of him.

I hardly think making jokes about the IRA when there are people on the forum who have been directly affected by their actions is in the best taste either.

Crikey JM you may not like the Royals but I am sure you could have found a more eloquent way of putting it. Any person, regardless of their background, fighting this unecessary war deserves our respect.

Royal or not the fact is that his cover is blown also put the rest of the troop and 11000 others at very high risk,not only him..Good on him to fight on the frontline,yes royals have always fought in the wars but has always been protected for their own safety,but with him going to Afghanistan: i take my hat off to him,he is at the end of the day 3rd to the throne and born with a silver spoon in his mouth
I for 1 like the royals,they are not hurting anyone and they make pensioners happy

There are a million things he could be doing other than fighting on the front line. Having come from a life of privilege makes his decision to serve even more commendable in some ways. He is criticised for spending his time in nightclubs, now he is criticised for fighting. He didn't ask to be born into the royal family, but at least is now fighting for his country. I daresay he will have to come home now his cover is blown, but at least he put his training to good use.
 
He should, IMO, absolutely be there. Not only does he deserve our respect, but he's got it. I hope he stays there, and does what he was trained up (and wants) to do. The country is totally different to that of urban fighting - it is unlikely that the Taliban are going to pinpoint him. And even if they do - he has not been ousted out by fellow officers....so they probably do not mind that he is there too much....They've chosen to put their lives in danger anyway....it won't make much difference to them!

I for one, totally respect Harry for what he has done - and I hope he is allowed to stay.
