And people say riding is easy..

Sitting on a horse whilst it walks and trots around is easy. RIDING a horse is not!!!

Not necessarily, horses at walk and trot can spook and catch the rider unaware, at least when doing a more stretching activity you are more fired up with adrenalin that may help you to have quicker reactions, never the less those riders are just brill!

I like the one thats spinning round on its hind legs! :p I remember seeing this a while ago and I'm still in shock over how that rider hanging off the side stayed on :)

I love the one at 0:53, the chestnut that spins and rears :D
The barrel racing on this one below is horrible, alot of the horses fall on it and I thought they were pushed to go far too fast :o < Just my opinion, don't shoot me! :p

I have to agree with you on this one.
I dont think I've ever seen a horse sport where the horses bronc so much. Surely this is a sign that they are not happy with what they are doing?
And please, can someone who competes at this sport, please explain to me, and others I am sure, why the need for hard hats etc seems to be............ well, lets just say there were a few riders in that clip who would've been a bit worse for wear the next day.

sorry i watch that and felt angry and sick bad riding time and time again sorry to you good show jumpers which i know there are but that is why i do not really like pure show jumping - please dont jump at me - i have experienced it and see it now - good showjumpers are diamonds the rest i have no time for sorry :)

Sorry i meant on a lead rein or something like that. My ex rode my horse while I lead him round in walk and trot. After he got off he said that was easy I dont know why you make such a fuss! I tried to explain to him that he wasnt 'riding'. He was just sitting there!

My first pony always used to do what that little grey shetland did! he seemed to think jumping actually meant how many times can i get her off me in this session! He did eventually learn his lesson

Agree with this. In some of those clips there is nothing to watch but horses being confused by bad riding. Some are great but others not so.

I know the clip doesn't show the whole thing and can be taken out of context but I've seen it time and time again at shows of all levels - not just SJ but all disciplines.

while I agree the riding isn't the best. what about us riding club people who do the BEST we can, have as many lessons as we can afford but still make mistakes>>> Does that mean we don't deserve to have a go??

Yes in an ideal world we would all plough our money into lessons and not competing, however I am getting over the hill now and so only have a limited time left to enjoy my life. I try as hard as I can to do the best I can with the funds and physical ability I have!!

Coming into riding in my 30's mean't I did not have the opportunity of a bendy youthful body to learn with (a huge advantage) I know as I have seen young riders start learning after me, have no lessons and yet still learn to balance better than me without even getting any imput to speak of
