Animals with names that don't suit them

I quite like old fashioned human man names like Alan and Hugo for really pretty horses, it tickles me.

Would anyone be offended if I start and opposite thread with animals that really suit their names?
They were really make me laugh too! I know a show pony called Norman 😂, one of my friends had a horse called Gary.

I find Alan hilarious 😂

And on the subject of budgies....

When I was a child, we had a grey budgie. My parents always told me the story of how my dad found him outside one Monday night, huddled in a corner, in the pouring rain.

My dad picked him up to take him inside, and he promptly bit my dad's hand, drawing blood. He really was a vicious little devil.

And his name was - "Mucky Monday" 🤣

I have a warmblood called Brian. It suits him though, his personality is very much a Brian 😂

Lucky was one of the banned names when I worked in wild animal research. The rules were:
  • Not allowed to name after yourself (though fine to name after someone else)
  • Not allowed to give the same name to two living animals (if one died, there could then be a the 2nd, the 3rd, etc)
  • No "Lucky"s (predestined to die young on the road or something)
  • Rude names allowed, but don't complain if the BBC changes it for documentaries
Lol thats hilarious, I think I might change his name to unlucky totry and jinx him being unlucky but I don't want the bad luck that comes with that

It's funny how some human names sound ok - like Jack or Bob, yet others like Gary or Alan sound a bit strange. We have a Colin at the yard. He's a big lad, very sweet but a tad accident prone. We also had a Humphrey at one time but he moved elsewhere

My latest addition is a 16.2, black warmblood x Sec D... Handsome, broad boy, looks like a cavalry black... His name was "The Fluffy Creature". Really did not suit him at all, even with a winter coat, and he'd been known like that for all of his 18 years. OH named him Chieftain, so that's his official name now. I call him Velcro or Cuddle bug, because he's always by my side when I'm out with them

I'm not particularly fond of human names for animals (it's a matter of personal preference), only Paulette the chicken has a "real" human name, though I think 4 other animals have names that some humans have, though they're more unusual or perhaps from different cultures.

OH used to have a royal python called Cuddles.

Our Bo was formerly Bro. He wasn’t treated like a Bro by previous owner, and I actually thought it quite a chavvy name, so it was changed in the car on way home from picking him up.

I also used to know a horse called Freebie. He was a BOGOF.
