I've just returned to this thread since being pretty outraged last night.
I expected a hammering for expressing disgust at how it had panned out and my opinion that the OP was being bullied.
I'm very glad to see that I am not the only one appalled, and that others coud see what I could see.

I know someone made reference to it being another BSJAshowjumper1234 thread - I must have missed this, but I can only imagine.

I know I expressed my opinion rather strongly, but I felt the need to as I simply cannot sit back and ignore this, I'm a mother and I would hate to think my daughter would be treated this way.

I just hope the OP hasn't been put off coming on here in the future - there are some lovely people on here :) x

To add:

I've pressed The Button. I did it against my own post as I couldn't decide which of the others was the worst and I didn't want to inundate TFC with Reports.

I've told TFC that I am no fluffy bunny, that I enjoy a good debate, etc., but these types of posts are doing the forum no good at all, which no doubt TFC already knows.

Well this seems to me to be a thread where the OP is given good advice by people until it was ignored, and argued with...when people realised the OP was a troll then quite rightly they got annoyed with the OP for wasting their time.
The girl has asked very stupid questions in the past that even a 10 year old wouldn't ask nevermind a 14 year old.
I agree that some of the posts have been bullish on both sides but the OP has had good advice, people have had their dig/comments and the cavelry have told everyone off, so maybe it's time to put this post to bed and to let it drop off in to the ether where it belongs.

In horseriders defence, when I was in year 10 and 11 I went to college one day a week, not because i was a slow learner and couldn't cope with GCSE's, but because I was doing a one day a week course through the school. I did a BTEC in Hospitality and Catering (not that I ever use it :D) so its very likely she does this too, although I don't remember how old I was then!!

"Good" is relative. If it doesn't get the desired result it isn't "good".
Just because advice is ignored or disagreed with doesn't make her a troll.

Isn't a Troll someone who deliberately and knowingly winds people up and causes arguments? Post specifically with the intent to cause trouble?
Are we reading different threads?

The girl has asked very stupid questions in the past you say.....well I have just looked at ALL of her posts, there is actually only a few!! I'm afraid I can't agree with someone who deems a child stupid for not being born with 100% horse care knowledge.
Did you never have a first horse? and have to ask what may seem obvious to you now?
I'd actually like to know which "stupid" questions you mean, the hay one? I dont know how to make hay - am I therefore stupid also?
The one about winter care...I had to ask my first winter with horses, maybe the one about trimming a horses mane with scissors? There are only these few posts!!

Yes she received some good advice, I think you will find the "cavelry" has no problem with these posts.

I tell you why this has got my back up - The word STUPID should not be used where kids are concerned, to tell a child they are stupid only damages their confidence, lowers their self esteem - hence why schools, nurseries now dont use the term anymore, nor do any childcare professionals. Children respond far better to positive constructive comments.

I do however agree its time to put this one to bed, however if you insist on referring to a kid as a troll and stupid, I will insist on putting my armour on and jumping on my high horse.
Sorry, nothing personal, I am just an adult who is and will always be highly defensive of kids - its the mother in me :)

I haven't read all this thread, just the odd post.

Does the OP have a similar writing style/sarcasm as Jazzaria who was banned/suspended a while back???

I suspect that what got people's backs up was that - at the start anyway - people were giving the OP good advice, but she kept asking the same question and seemingly ignoring all those who had and were posting without giving any explanation as to why their advice wouldn't work.

Agree, though, that things went VERY downhill from there and some of the insults thrown - on both sides - were unnecessary.

OP - you have had some good advice on here about either asking your parents to make an exception in this case and talk to the girl's parents, or if you feel up to it dealing with it yourself in a mature, adult fashion. Personally it sounds to me like the girl isn't in awe but is trying to show off, and it sounds like she's becoming a danger to herself and your horse, so something should be done about it.

- stupid question - can I grow hay in my greenhouse.

You know, 14 year olds are pretty grown up these days.
I am not getting into THIS thread. I agree, It has got a bit nasty so yes it should be put to bed.
BUT, you are now going in to the attacking mode that you are talking about.

Peoples opinions differ, thats the wonderful thing. people step over the line sometimes, thats human nature.

Lets ALL put this one to bed so that nobody needs to put on their armour.

Whoa there... Calm down before something pops.
This post has run it's course and people who keep commenting (myself included, this is why I won't be relping no matter how much mud is flung around) are just adding fuel to the fire.
OP has probably forgotten she's posted this, people have had their digs, people have waved their White flag and fingers have been wagged....let it go and get on with the day.
It's sunny outside, go and play with your horses!!!

No I am defending a 14 year old, if I was in attacking mode my replies would be an awful lot more personal. If I've come across that way it was in no way intentional.
I do agree about putting it to bed, and Hudsonw............what a great idea about going to play with our horses, I'm sorry if my most recent post has offended you, I'm not looking for a bun fight or to upset you or any other person, I just think we as a forum should be a bit more tolerant to the kids on here. We were all young once and I cringe when I think back to some of the daft stuff I did or asked at that age - infact forget kid, I've even had my moments as an adult :)
Well I'm off to go play with my horses now, a much more enjoyable way to spend the afternoon - have a good one all x

This is my second (and final) involvement with this thread.

Totally agree with the above and have also pressed the button to try to curtail any further activity. It's gone far enough.

PS Hudson, very envious that you have sun - it's 3 degrees and foggy at my place!
