I’m a horse owner of nearly 40 years (yikes) but I bought a pony mare last summer as a companion for my fruit loop mare and as something for me / the kids to ride when they are around. But it turns out she’s a BOGOF so we are awaiting the pitter patter of little hooves. I’m excited and terrified! All thoughts / advice / input welcome please !

Very exciting. Do you have a clue as to what the sire will be?
He is around 13.3, she’s about 14.2 and he’s a cremello Welsh x Pottock. He has an exceptionally nice temperament and when we bought her the vendor did say she might be preggers but it was very unlikely as in 2021 he was with her and two other mares and none took so she planned to have him gelded. He obviously overheard as all three are now in foal 😂

Hs not cremello, he's got a big red patch! Hes skewbald, ie chestnut and white. Is mum chestnut and white or bay and white?

Hi yes duh, sorry brain thinking in French ! He’s got blue eyes and carries the cr gene apparently ? Mum is more bay and white but with some dark chestnut bits and some black in her mane and tail. Her dad was piebald but can’t find any info on her mum.

If he carried the cr gene that chestnut patch would be diluted.
The eyes are due to the white face not any dilute gene, just his various genes for white patches.

Hes chestnut and white with a couple of different white patterning genes, splash can cause that extreme white, but there's so many white patterns we don't know about yet. Mum is bay and white with tobiano and probably overo. I'd be expecting a patchy foal of some description, although the loudest marked horses don't always pass that on. Exciting to see what pops out!

The patch doesn't look that red to me, he could be a dark palomino (tobiano?), so with one cream gene. He could either pass it to the foal or not so I think you have a possibility of chestnut, bay, palomino, bucksin and even black or smoky black with the spots on top.

I’ll see if I can get some more pics of him because I have seen one where his splodges look lighter and I can’t honestly remember him much as when we went to view I was concentrating on the mare , Ollie.
