So the last couple of months have been pretty quiet, in the context of the global pandemic etc... but now that things are easing a wee bit, it seemed like a good idea to update again on our new boy ?

Once the lockdown started, things obviously changed a lot but we were very fortunate that we were able to keep this boy in full work - we had some restrictions at our yard, as you’d expect, but we were still allowed up etc which helped hugely.

In the absence of lessons, I’ve participated in 2 online dressage leagues run by my instructor. This was great as it gave us something to work towards, along with very tailored feedback and things to work on. So we mastered the art of filming ourselves - I have my phone in my hand here as I was using it to control camera!

Aside from that, we have been hacking and OH has also played around in xc paddock at yard.

Tried to attach a hacking photo but it went sideways ?

We are really grateful that lockdown is slowing being eased here, so today we went on an outing!! OH was riding, and I popped on at the end to have a go. I am a very rusty & nervous jumper lol, but this big wonderhorse is so generous and chilled that I only felt approx 95% petrified. Lower leg position could be better, stirrups were a tad long and position a little defensive!

So in short: here we are, 4 months in, and this big horse continues to delight. He has been worth every penny so far for the fun he has brought and for the confidence he has given me. It is easy to forget that he is only coming 7, a real wise head on young shoulders. He has slotted into our horsy family beautifully ?
