Beware... My Plants...
Lucky little Bertie. Looking forward to seeing him get healthy!
today, Bertie chose to spend his day eating all the grass and taking flat-out snoozes in his enormous comfy stable (along with an electric fence breakout, foiled only by the partner of the very generous co-owner whose house he is living at!) - there is definitely a real shetland hiding in there somewhere and it's lovely to see it coming out!
Quite - mine is on a permanent diet and still rotund. How the actual f...... do you starve a Shetland like that ?
That takes real effort. Thank goodness you've taken the lucky little fellow on.
requested to follow also initial is CBBerto had now been with us for two weeks, and is a fabulous boy. He is gaining weight slowly, and he has a personality again - he is the most loving, friendly pony. He adores scratches and attention, he has attended a child's birthday party (at home in the garden he shares, and apparently he won the bowling!) Without blinking an eye. He has also graduated to some generously gifted rugs that his co-owner sourced, and calls to her when she gets out of her car every day.
We still have some big hurdles to cross, he needs worming but we want vet advice before we try anything because we suspect he has a big burden. He also needs his teeth doing asap but are struggling to get in touch with a dentist - keeping trying is a priority! And we are praying that his slightly wobbly back end is due to lack of muscle and weakness instead of anything neurological, but he seems to have awareness of where his feet are etc etc so that will be a wait and see game.
His hair regrowth is the most beautiful golden colour (despite never being keen on palominos, sorry Bertie!) And both myself and his co-owner consider ourselves very lucky to have him. He even met my other half today, who gave him the stamp of approval despite the purchase price coming from our wedding savings!
His Instagram is fixing_bertie if anyone would like to give him a follow for more regular updates

hes looking so wellFor anyone who doesn't follow us on Instagram - Just under a month ago we collected this little chap, and it's lovely to see him turning into a chubby little egg. Just needs to add more muscle on his back end, but the improvements are stunning already.
Just caught up on this. Another who feels like I starve mine and still it’s a constant loosing battle so how the hell one can end up like that is unthinkable.
What a lucky little chap. He has such a sweet face.
Did you buy him off the back of this thread or was it already in the pipeline?
You do have to love a tiny pony!Unfortunately Dragon Driving is a morning scrolling guilty pleasure so I had already seen him, and I have a soft spot for Shetlands! But this thread may have been weaponised for the other half to show him it wasn't only me that was concerned about him
