Soo....all was well again last night and this morning/afternoon. Saw the vet this morning, told him he was "normal" at the moment and he declared him fit and healthy and clearly "feeling well" (I couldn't keep the blighter still!)

So, almost like clockwork he has gone runny again after 6pm. Nothing in his routine has altered but this is the third night in the row he's been like this. He's definitely not eating snow, only outside to do his business before he wants to go back in.

He has four very small meals a day at the moment, so as not to overfill him. He is hungry, very keen to eat, looks for more when he's finished. Drinking as normal.

There is no added frequency to him going for a number 2 and he will cry and howl when he needs to go out, perfectly capable of holding it. It's just very loose.

Last week he swapped from James Wellbeloved Turkey and Rice to Duck and Rice. Could it be this? I did the swap over 4 days but he's been on just Duck and Rice for about four days now.

I do have the Lamb and Rice and another Turkey and Rice bag. Would it be worth putting him back on the Turkey and Rice to see if he suddenly becomes consistently firm again? As I say, he's fine during the day though, which makes me think it can't really be the food as such.

I'm at a loss. The vet said he was growing well, looks perfectly healthy blah blah and not to worry. Problem is running poohs every evening isn't normal is it?

It could def be the food change esp if it does not agree with him, I would now starve till tomorrow afternoon as he is young best not to go longer then offer boiled rice and chicken for all meals then add small amount of the first lot of dry meal u had him on, until it's gradually mosty dry food and no rice and chicken, this should dry him out and get him back to the usual food.

It was 3 for 2, so we stupidly thought we'd get him different flavours for interest. Again, that's me comparing him - like an eejit - to Jasper. He would never eat the same bag of feed twice. Got bored of it. I'll swear he was crossed with a cat....I only thought it was cats who were so fussy!

I'll do the rice and chicken. I did actually roast a chook for tea tonight and there's some left over. He's not had alot to eat at all today. Just four very small amounts of kibble (probably a little less than a usual single feed, spread over the day).

My only concern with starving him completely is that reducing his food so much today has coincided with him suddenly chewing on skirting boards, fireplace, furniture etc. and obviously I wouldn't want him to swallow something that could harm him. This could just be teething, I realise, but could it also be hunger? He's quite vocal if we eat today, whereas he's never normally bothered by us eating.

The old 3 for 2

it's best to starve till motions become firmish but not with a puppy obs, they are to young to be starved so long, the rice and chicken should dry him up.

Thanks Cayla.

Fingers crossed for firmness.

At leas he's holding himself....I would not like to be scrubbing that off the carpet. Long may the crying to go out continue.
