ANOTHER weekend plans!

XC schooling at a clinic with my quirky one. Had a bad ride from her yesterday so will probably be good today! My main horse will have a quiet ride tomorrow having had the week off after her big ride last week! Roll on some rain though.

First pictures in- 4-in-hand lesson with my instructor :) It was part of my xmas present but took a while to get a suitable gap in their season when all up and running!

What a great picture rara. That looks amazing.

Went to BCA for a sj clinic today. Didn’t n5 start well as the m25 was full of holiday traffic and then I got lost twice. Tacked up and on in 10 minutes which is a record for me. Went there just to help us consolidate some of the stuff we’ve been doing at home and get some sj miles on the clock. Went really well and I kept the kicking, flapping and general stupidness that I do to a minimum, and we had a really good session.

F is feeling confident with jumping now, we just need to keep the energy round a course and not get strung out or drop behind the leg. But overall very pleased and finally, finally feeling like we have our mojo back again.

Not really worthy of the thread as it is neither competing or training, but Jensen moved yards today without batting an eyelid - well, there is some grass in his new paddock, so anything else is of no consequence :D I feel really sad to leave my previous yard, but you cannot ignore that horses are expensive and sometimes it makes financial sense - I will definitely miss being around such beautiful, talented horses

I finally remembered a dressage test! :D

He was a bit flat in the heat of the day and due to me having knackered my shoulder right bend (normally his better rein) was a bit hard work, but still good enough for a 3rd place (same mark as 2nd!) and a couple of % points to 4th so very pleased with him as he has a lot more to give than I got today!

And lovely comments from the judge about it being nice to see a horse ridden from the back to the front. Good day at the office. :)

Back from the Hunter Trials, very pleased with my girl :)

This was her first official start at Intro (80cm), and I had decided to go non competitive after a less than ideal preparation. She jumped all jumps bar the one I knew she would have some trouble with due to how it was positioned on the top of a hill, I bypassed it rather than make an issue, jumped everything else super :D Clear SJ round as well so overall a great day out.

Intro Dressage First-Timer's Report:

I didn't fall off. The horse didn't spook (pity, it might have got him forward). We both stayed in the arena. We made some shapes vaguely similar to those on the test sheet. 57.61% which is worse than I'd hoped, but much better than I feared.

Sounds like success!! Well done.

Well done. My first intro on Saturday had a similar result, the last 20m circle was rather wobbly with Alfie trying to exit at A! But really pleased with him - score of 61.5% and a frilly (4th place)

Lovely judges comments as well

Well done both of you !

Pip and I did our first SJ comp. Well I say SJ.... more like raised trotting poles in the first class. Im glad we did the smaller class, as she spent most of her time looking at everything but the jumps, such as the banners , flags and the huge dice in the middle of the arena. It was a fab experience, and gave us both loads of confidence. The second class was better, as she paid a bit more attention and by the end of the course she concentrated and jumped lovely. Cant wait to have another go now.

We've been away for a bit
First weekend was off playing with a garrocha pole and various working equitation obstacles so we've even had a go at spearing a ring with a very large stick, although only at walk.
Then we've been over to my trainers ( that sounds so official and posh but I can't think how else to put it) and we've stepped up to riding single handed in a curb :) Which all works well until Daisy decides to blow through a leg aid and I lose all steering! Home work is work on lope on both reins and do some direct and indirect bend to keep her supple and paying attention to leg aids. My big goal for the year is to crack the lope and its time I got on with it. We've been doing well at Walk/Jog competitions recently so now the goal is continue those but 1 handed!

Not sure if this will work but here's a little video of the first weekend, made by the very talented James Douglas Media https://www.facebook.com/jamesdouglasmedia/videos/988487997989950/

Raz behaved this time but was still a little look-y so played it safe for 64.41% and 3rd. Beau is also back on form after not feeling quite right at mid-week BS on Tuesday, and Ellie is enjoying her holiday. 🙂

Just checked Rockrose’s Facebook re this weekend’s area festival and it’s looking like I’m going to have to leave at 5am on Sunday to get there in time for my 7.15 arena walk - Ooft... 🤯

Nothing this weekend apart from a jolly up on the South Downs tomorrow morning. But we do have SJ and XC clinics planned for next week (Tues and Thurs!) :biggrin3:

Our first one eye'd jump away from home was a great success! Was rather warm as lesson was at 1pm, but Andy was rather excited to be out jumping again! So lovely to see him with such spirit at 21 and minus an eye!

Preparation for next week's trailblazers.......it's going to be a hot one, currently arming myself with large white cotton sheets to put up at his stable to keep the sun out.....!

Taking my ex-racer XC schooling at Kelsall hill, for the second time EVER in preparation for his first event there in September :) Love getting out and about with him! Good luck everyone who is competing this weekend!

I'm very late to this thread - had a mad mad week. Then away at the weekend doing.... THIS!
