So I am heading back to SEIB when my renewal conmes through.

SEIB were also about £150 more, Shearwater £105 difference Barry Grainger Ltd were not far behind being £65 difference...........all were fully comp with automotive recovery/breakdown etc.......... same excess

Cool, it's just some people on here have said they don't give alternative transport id your lorry conks out with horses on. That being said I am still insured with AE until July. If you find out could you let me know

Yes they tow but you want a separate horsebox to come and collect your horses! If not they will winch up the front and tow you with the horses still on board - not nice!

To be honest I have no idea, I know when the NFU rescue came out the rescue guys offered to do it to mine I said no and the NFU had already sent a rescue horsebox out for the horses. Just be aware that you can be pressurised into it so stand your ground and insist another horsebox comes to get the horses. The horsebox guy told me that there are a lot of cases where they have towed with the horses on board. I told the rescue company what had happened and they were horrified and were contacting the rescue guys to complain. I have heard it is still going on though. You do then have the problem of course that your box is going off with out you!
Sorry I haven't explained that very well, I was told it is something that happens across all insurance companies and to stand my ground, just check that AE do offer the horsebox rescue service not just a rescue service if you see what I mean.

AHHHHH....thanks...I think that is the case that they tow only as it says nothing about sending a box out.......ummmmmmmmm....think I may now go with Barry Grainger..........

Yep they DO NOT send a box out to you, it is literally horses on the box and tow em home... apparently they have been doing it for 17 years and not have a problem... but sorry..I have a problem with this so definately not going to use them!!! Things you dont get told eh!!!

Just called Four Counties, excellent! Horsebox insurance very very competative and they use Breakdown Equestrian Support services run by RAC, and they will send horsebox out etc......and for any driver over 25...would recommend I think!!

l broke down on the motorway in the dark on my own with a horse on board, there was no way l was going to unload it on the side of a motorway,my breakdown company towed me home with the front wheels raised onto a frame it was only raised a tiny bit and horse never moved a muscle all the way home

I've been rescued twice by Anthony Evans, both times with 3 horses on board, both times 'towed' with the horses on board. The front wheels are lifted off the ground at a shallow angle and although not strictly legal they let one of us stay with the horses so that we could phone the cab if there was an issue. The horses travelled perfectly well and in fact the towing truck was so smooth and automatic that they had a far smoother ride home than if I had been driving!

I used to teach Tony and his daughter Caroline to ride .I insure with them and have breakdown ,had a puncture twice and run out of fuel once[diesel stolen and we only just got down the road and it stopped ,never thought to check as filled the previous day].Each time quick service

I use SEIB - really good - they have a policy of only sending a trailer out to one horse, I said on your own head be it then and I take no responsibility because my horse does not travel in a trailer and kicked the side panel out last time he was put in one. They said give us 5 mins....and called me back having found someone who could come out and do a rigid tow so horse stayed on lorry, a rigid metal bar put from their truck to mine, all 4 wheels of mine still on the ground, all of us back safe and sound. Brilliant!

Dont want to discourage people from using this company, just I would not like to be towed home..as my boy would probably have a fit being at an angle towed home!!
