I've just bought a secondhand saddle, and found that the stitching holding on one of the panels is loose/broken.

Any idea how much it might cost me to get it fixed?

Will ring a local saddler tomorrow, but I'd like a general idea of price first if possible :)

Thanks for any help :)

Im desperate for a saddler here in france, my belobed Barefoot's girth straps need replacing. Think it might be a "pack of to Germany job, and BAREBACK riding meanwhile:eek:

I can't seem to upload a photo Oz, but it's around the outside of the nearside panel, the stitching has failed where the saddle flap is, and is loose around towards the cantle, so probably that whole side needs repair I think.

Oh Shysmum, what a pain! Isn't there anyone in France who does that sort of thing?

I've just had this, mine was £100 including full reflock and mending of broken stitching on panel. I'm surrey way.

Oh that's brilliant, thanks Oz :)

Still trying to get hold of my local saddler, might just have to pop in and see when she can do it rather than phoning first.

Which part of Wales are you in, Oz? Wondering if you are anywhere near me... :)

It's just the lacing in at the rear, which I thought it might be, very common repair and £10 each end for me to repair but every saddler is different, hope that helps, Oz

Ooh good to know, thanks for posting this thread OP as I have a very elderly saddle which is like this but otherwise sound. Must get it sorted.

Just to add for everyone's info, for some flocking adjustments that "stitching" has to be undone and redone, so many fitters rather than saddlers should also be able to do it. If I have a lot of work to do on the rear of a panel I may undo that and redo it, not a quick job for a flocking adjustment but occasionally necessary.
