As title really, i never seem to be able to get it all off neatly through fear of catching the loose skin. Any tips? My girl is really narrow in between the front legs which makes it even more difficult.

Trimmers!
I had one who was very narrow and trimmers worked well
yeah I tend to run trimmers over the narrow ones, if the horse is quiet then I crouch in front of the chest and run the trimmers towards me. you don't particularly have to worry about any folds around the tops of the legs then either because trimmer blades are much more forgiving to awkward places IME.

Trimmers with narrow blades.

If I sat underneath the horse to clip, the horses wouldn’t mind, but I’d never be able to winch myself back off the floor again :D.

ETA Have just left my mare’s elbows and between forelegs woolly after clipping her this morning. She’s good to clip everywhere, but she only allows me an hour at a time then she makes it clear that my time is up for the day. Will finish her off later this week.

I gently pull the skin tight and run clippers over carefully on one side then swap to opposite side I get someone to hold leg up for elbows and bits behind the elbows that seems to work I am very particular and keep going till all done but I also make sure my blades are kept cool.

When on my own with Fig he will happily rest a leg on my shoulder!!!

I train them to stand with one leg hoiked up on a crate/bucket.
