Anybody got a Welsh or a Welsh part bred?

my spotty one in my sig is half welsh! and practically half tb! only tiny bit of appaloosa lol. I love him to bits! hes such a dope and really soppy! sooo talented as well!

I have a sixteen year old section D who I wouldn' t swap for anything, he hunts, jumps, is brilliant in traffic and has loads and loads of character and only bucks high enough to make me laugh. Welshies are great.

I have 2 Welsh x TB's both out of a Welsh D mare out of a TB stallion (same stallion)
The most generous, genuine horses to ever own. Had the first one restore my confidence, anybody can ride her, you can leave her for months if you wanted and she is just the same to get back on, easy to do in all ways and everybody including myself says she is one in a million, not a record breaker - is capable up to about 1.00m and does a nice test, not flashy - leg at each corner type and will always try for you, hubby hacks her out with me and she takes care of him! If I had to fault her I would say she can be a little greedy and will be a little lazy if you let her and she doesn't travel well in a trailer with a partition but I can forgive her all that!

We enjoy her so much that we then decided to find her replacement for a few years time when she retires and bought a yearling same breeding that is now 3 and so far is just the same, easy to do, nothing fazes her and has the same genuine nature, they are very alike.

Big massive thumbs up from me!

I wouldnt want one as a leisure horse (tb x welsh), too quirky but I'm sure some people enjoy them as such!
Heres my current lad

I ride one of the other liveries Welsh D. She is 14hh not that wide as welshies go and quite a change from my cobs standing at 14.3 and very wide and my WB's who are all 16hh+

She is actually a real sweety and so loving and quite pretty but is an absolute nightmare ridden. She is 10 but rides like a green four year old, she is quite forward off the leg but dead in the mouth. Has only been used for hacking by her owner who doesn't school on the hacks. The hacks consist of walking and galloping at the same spots each time so she has no buttons really. I have been charged with schooling her properly. She learns really quickly and picks things up really easily being intelligent and it is really hard trying to keep things interesting for her. She jumps fab so she could make a future WHP.

Ive had many welshes thoughout my time but my best ones ,were a 4 yr sec C that my grandad gave me when I was 11. Unbroken and brought though the sales, didnt have any issues with her even though she was chestnut! A total sweetie, she went on compete in the prince philip cup.

My next was a brown sec D Abbott, my first horse i brought myself when i was 15. A true rig, having only been cut 6 months before i had him when he was 8. A utter pig at times, but a fab bond we had. I went to a spirtualist last summer and they said he was with me in sprit, the bond we had was huge, at one point he broke his leg, i nursed him back to full health and saddly out grew him. So my step dad made me sell him. Hate him so much for that. But that was over 7yrs ago now

And ive got on loan a fab little sec B, such a little sweetie, hasnt put a foot wrong and ive only had her a week. She remainds me of my first one. Cant wait to get her out showing!

Tbx are also fab, havnt come across a bad one yet!

brilliant :D really getting some good vibes about them :D

Just thought I'd ask and what you think of them!
I'll start: I've got a welsh D (registered as a part bred due to some unknowns on her Dams side but she looks all welsh sooo..) and I think shes the funniest, cheekiest horse I know! Love her to bits and she does all sorts :)
Also, anybody have a welsh cross thoroughbred? Thinking of having a foaly out of her to a tb in a few years and wanted opinions on the cross? Thats if shes not in foal to the miniature stallion she was in the field with recently; where theres a will theres a way...

:D

I`ve got a welsh x tb...sire being the tb part...nice guy , very opinionated and sharp....cant tell you what he`s like to be ridden as he`s only 2y.o but he can bloody shift is very agile and has quite a pop on him.
I bought him on an impulse at a sale but had wanted a welsh x tb for ages because theyre quite gutsy and very talented :)

Here he is, Beau

awwh hes lovely, how big do you expect him to make ? the 2nd picture is the spitting image of an expression my girlie loves to pull! :p

Gosh Ayla, he seriously reminds me of my lad!

I was thinking the same and hoping he turns out like yours :)

Taz (really cant spell the rest lol) he`s just under 15.2hh now hoping he`ll reach 16hh but he`s fine as he is he`s got lots of filling out to do and I`m short anyway :) Not bad for 260 guineas eh :)

anything like mine and he will be growing well into his 6th year! Mine finally stopped last summer and is now 16'1. Love to see pics of him as he matures, keep us updated please! He sounds a lot like mine in personality and agility too! :D

ETS this cross is really something to behold to watch grow and mature! They go through some very odd phases, sometimes looking v welsh and sometimes looking v tb and gangly! Quite amusing, I had people who knew us well not recognise him as the same horse from competition to competition as a 4/5/6yr old....'but I thought he was a cob, he looks like a tb' 'but I thought he was more tb he looks like a welsh cob now ' :D :D :D Now I get 'is he a warmblood?'

Will do....this time 3 months ago I couldnt stand him (mean I know) he just reminded me so much of my old horse (sec d) he was also very opinionated and put me off horses for ten years lol but Beau`s my boy now, I can live with opionated ways it`s what makes him who he is and he`d be boring otherwise lol

What way is yours bred...he is lovely will be showing my oh pics he`ll be like ooooooooo and try stealing Beau off me no doubt!

I don't have any proper breeding record for him :( Just mum a D and dad a tb.
I edited my post above btw! ^^ :D

Oh didnt like mine for ages either! He drove me nuts and I took ages to bond with him!

my goodness! here's hoping if i get a welsh x tb out of my girly it'll stop somewhere around 14.2-15 hands! (shes 13.3 and sire would be maybe 15-15.3)

to quote what someone said to me though, how long is a piece of string!

They do seem very one to one, I spoke to his sire`s owner and she said the sire was very one to one too....

Yours is really really nice (sorry to gush) keeping fingers crossed now :)

Ah yes, cant always rely on the parents heights...I`ve got a PBA meant to reach 14.3hh, she`s over 16hh now and bum high again at nearly 5!!!
My OH friend has a 3 year old out of a 14.2hh mare. 15.2hh stallion and is currently 16.3

Thanks, he is lovely, although I am bound to be rather biased ;) He does turn heads wherever we go though....maybe thats the handstands he does in the warm up?! :p :D No seriously everyone that meets him loves him...not many actually want to ride him mind, but everyone likes to cuddle him and make 'ooo pretty' cooey noises at him and laugh at his clownlike nature as he tries to give them a kiss or pilfer their hat  :D He has turned into a fabulous horse with talent coming out of his ears (which he actually manages to apply quite well now too! ;)) I'm very pleased with him.

I've got a registered Welsh partbred. Her father is a Section D with a great pedigree, but her mother's breeding was listed as unknown.

She's a sweetheart and a very good girl most of the time, though she is very intelligent, opinionated, cheeky, and can be very sharp and strong. But she's very brave and loyal and saved the day on a few scary occasions such as when some young cattle thought it would be fun to chase us. My friend's horse bolted, but Welsh Warrior Queen stood her ground and glared at the cattle until they buggered off, then safely led the other horse through the field.

She is also shameless about snuggling up to any random dog walker or pedestrian she passes on her way and adores any kind of baby, human or animal.

I've owned/ridden a few Part Breds and owned a very special Section C.
The section C was definitely my best horse to date, she had a rough life and excelled at everything I asked of her.
The part breds were Arab x Welsh and TB x Welsh. All amazing at jumping and dressage, in general brilliant competition ponies.
Though one was a bit hot-headed she calmed down after a few years.

Your girl is stunning! There are a lot of amazing breeders on here that I'm sure would help you find a suitable stallion for her. Personally, I'd put her to a cremello WB, but then I have a massive Buckskin/Palomino obsession :D

not going to lie i would love a little buckskin or palomino foaly!! trouble is there are no warmbloods small enough :3 (moose is only 13.3 and will be a maiden)

I have a Welsh D raised him from 7 months old and he's the best! (see piccy's in my profile).

If you're gonna cross your mare, may I suggest Hackney instead of TB??? I have had the opportunity to have a welsh x hackney sharing my field for the last 3 years now, watched her grow up from a wee filly to a beautiful mare and she is amazing, moves beautifully, jumps amazingly, and she has a great character. Just a suggestion.... :)

This is her (with her 1 day old colt, born Thursday)
