No I used old fashioned solid coconut oil for my old boy - it worked a treat.

No, but Cornucrecine(sp!) worked well on Little Lad's mane - bit sticky and smelly though

I think somewhere like Boots / Superdrug would have it, I bet it's a lot cheaper then products actually made for horses as well!

It just seems to break off over winter, he isnt rugged so its not that, his mane seems very brittle and just wanted something to help "bring it on" before the show season

Our old vet always said to keep the area you want to grow back moist, so maybe some thing water based like MSM cream? It would be sticky, but it would wash out....If I can remember which, I think some creams that help sweet itch in the summer also help hair regrowth. We use Nettex for our itchy cob, but its not cheap! About 20 quid a tub. Works though! Or have you thought of a feed supplement? Lots about for hooves n hair!?

What about normal conditioner? Just a thought. And maybe something for the inside, e.g. happy hoof or conditioning cubes (if that's the one I'm thinking of, brain has alread gone to bed).

He's already on top spec so thought that would have helped but alas not.. will try some of the suggested products ( although may give the horrible brown yukky stuff a miss

We've used MTG on boot rubs and sore heels (reining horses) and it seems to do the trick. My pal has just bought a big bottle for her new horse which gets rubbed by his rugs.
The other one I like - was very sceptical at first but it helped my mare's mane grow back, and the hair on her leg after she'd had a bad cut - is Megatek from tailgator.
Both are colourless creams by the way!

Have you tried megatek and survivor from equss? For me they are essential items. Megatek has worked wonders on Cairo, Chancer and now Farra's hair when rubbed or damaged and I use it watered down to keep Chancer's long hair in great show condition.

The survivor is the best detangler on the market - when I think so and I have tried most of them over the years. It is also great when showing as it gives a wonderful shine. It also keeps the hair slightly slippery so mud etc falls off.

They also do various other products for brittle and dry hair.

Have you tried bagging? I know they do tiny bags for minis as they have qutie a few people who show minis using the mane and tail bags.

Ive used Megatek for ages now and it doesnt seem to work

ive not used bags as id be worried about the other mini pulling at them and being left with no mane at all!!
