Anyone been kicked by their horses?

I found out tonight my mare doesn't like having her teats touched :( she had bites on them so I was trying to put sudocream on. Luckily it was a sideways boot to my well padded tummy , so only a scrape and a bruise. Didn't half hurt tho!

Never had anything as dramatic as some of you, kicked by a few riding school ponies, worst was a anglo arab mare who i was taking temperature of, on a good day she was evil when her temperature is being taken she is the devil. Have to admit the kick wasn't too bad, the concrete i hit was hell. Ended up in hospital with a possible fractured rib luckily i was ok.

I haven't had anything nasty from my boy but he is very babyish and nibbly (which I'm trying to get him out of!) but when I was picking out his front hoof the other day he took a chunk out of my ass!! Little ***** - I couldn't sit down properly for a while after lol

None of my horses has ever kicked me. A couple of half hearted leg waving, that they have regretted pretty sharpish.

Been kicked by other peoples bad mannered horses though!

First week of work experience in an RS, nearly kicked in a stable by a youngster while picking out his back hooves, luckily one of the yard girls was there with me and reprimanded said horse and picked out hooves. Second time was trying to bring in and I didn't get herd dynamics and was told to watch W as he kicks as I felt wind by my face. :( both horses were on livery with the riding school.

My gelding kicked me once about 8 years ago, he got a swift kick back and has never tried to kick anyone since!

Yep, got kicked by our 40yo pony earlier this year. She grows a massive winter coat and isn't keen on having her belly brushed. It's much easier to pull the loose bits out gently, but I grabbed hold of a bit that was still firmly attached. She kicked me on my bum. We were all amazed- didn't think she could still get her leg that high! :)

Worst one was being kicked by a friends horse when I was out on the Pony Club Hunt meet. My pony and her's were usually very friendly, but this time her pony lashed out at mine and hit me on the ankle. We were going a good hunting canter so both came off. Glad I had my leather long boots on, ankle was swollen and painful for weeks.

If this one counts then yes! I was leading a horse behind a horse in front and because the horses weren't that best of buddies, the horse in front felt that it had to say "Get out of my space!" but instead got me BUT only touched my leg phew!

Never, but mum had a youngster who would regularily swing on you - I was wise to that one.
However her 17hh Holstein always gets silly in April/may time, anyhow, last year she was bring my Shetland in, and fat boy came cantering over, then whipped round, and bucked, catching my mum on her arm and stomach. She broke the ulna bone in her arm, and she was in pot for 3 months - from her wrist to her armpit, with the arm set bent at the elbow. She also had half a hoof shaped bruise on her tummy, so spent two nights in hospital for scans to check her liver.
Same her (he lacks spacial

Ooops, iPhone published before I'd finished...
Same horse trampled her 4 years ago.... He was being turned out in the paddock directly next to the stable. She was walking down the incline to open the gate, and as she opened it there was a bang, he spooked forward and ran over the top of her. All she could remember was his legs wrapped around hers.
She broke her sternum, and I have never in my life seen bruises like it. From her knees to her ankles were black on both legs. How they were broken I'll never know.
Clearly the horse lacks spatial awareness the big lump.

Owchy, hope you're okay!

Well *takes deep breath*

I fell off the first time I jumped when the pony reared and I was kicked
Broke and dislocated my wrist and had to have an operation (it gets better) the day my family were heading off to the south of France for a holiday, I was in surjury as we were supposed to be airborne 0_o
Perminant ligament damage in both my ankles due to a jump wing aRgument and a fat horse falling on one!
Several concussions
Conn reared up and caught me on the shoulder

Oh yeah, forgot my whiplash which I am currently recovering from due to Conn's rodeo impression when I gave him my reins jumping, how I stayed on I have no idea!

Not been kicked by my own horse but was kicked twice in the same leg by my friends horse. Once on a beach ride when she aimed a kick at my horse and missed - got me a cracker just below the knee - parents covering small childrens ears because I turned the air blue cursing when it happened. Second time when we were cantering on a hack her mare stopped suddenly and my horse ran into the back of her - she kicked, missed him and got me same leg above the knee this time  Had haematoma on leg both times and was the laughing stock of the a&e :D

First time was tacking up as a teen - putting bridle on when horse swung and booted. Luckily I had my hat on so ducked my head and put hands up to protect face - broken wrist as a result.

Broken toe from current one pawing but I've been lucky as I have seen him get a friend and had a couple of near misses myself. He can be a handful on the ground.:(

Yes, in the hip while pulling the tail of one of the horse I was schooling. It was all very comical as there was a water trough behind me which I ended up in and then couldn't get out of. Honestly, it was like something off of a film! She kicked me so hard that she completely smashed the glass on my phone but I feel very lucky that I had it in my pocket and it was a smashed phone and not a smashed hip!

My horse, when i got him as a youngster, was REALLY bad to handle and always divved around when being brought in. One day he reared right up and before i knew what was happening his front feet had come down and just clipped me on the head! I was obviously knocked out and my coat was totally ripped where his feet had then dragged down my front. I was lucky not to be killed really!!

Thankfully he is a saint to handle now but we had months of this behaviour, what a nightmare he was!

The last horse i had was a madam and a half!! she would pin you against the stable wall, barge you out of the way and fly kick at your head if she was in a mood, thankfully she never did kick me, but i always wore my hat, even just to let her out of the stable. At 17hh she knew she was bigger, stronger and faster, oh and would rear in hand too :( She really was not the horse that i was told about,we did manage to stop the rearing and barging, but her behaviour was too much when i had a toddler about, so she went back. I lost count how many times i got my feet trodden on with my first loan horse tho lol, my toes were nearly always black and blue.

Too many times to count by our old pony, he was beaten and mad blind in on eye when we got him so his mentality was 'i'll get them before they get me' even after 12 years of having him......when he started we would have to drop the lead rope and run:D until he settled. He was just a quick with front legs aswell as back.

my first one kicked my dad (who knew nothing about horses) when we went to view him, as far as my parents were concerned i was not going to have that one (i was 15yrs it was an unbacked 3yr old) but thats the one i had-he was great never kicked again

My mum got really badly kicked by a pony I borrowed when I was a kid. It was quiet and had never done anything naughty. My mum was standing behind him (not a good idea, but she is not horsey) but she was quite a way behind him, talking to a friend. She was really out of range at that moment. The pony was tied up rather loosely. He backed up towards her and lashed out with both feet. Caught her square on midway up her thighs. She actually FLEW through the air and had two perfect horseshoe shaped bruises on her legs. What a pig of a pony.

Only once and it wasn’t his fault – it was the first time out of his stable after 3 months box rest and we were meant to be walking nicely, he threw a bit of a paddy and kicked out (was not aiming for me) but I didn’t move out of the way quickly enough.

Yup, the baby has recently decided he doesn't want to do hoof picking any more, no apparent reason whatsoever. He thrashes his hind legs and last week caught me on the inside of the knee, I have the world's best bruise now. I've had to revert to using a rope on his hindlegs, something I've never had to do before!

I was double barrelled and broke my nose when I was about 15.

Not been kicked by either of our 2 but was kicked by a shetland at my old yard who had escaped into the menage, I went to catch her and she turned on me and kicked me in the thigh! It really hurt but luckily she was small, I can't imagine the pain if Bella kicked me, her feet are like dinner plates!
