I'm getting itchy clipping fingers - oh the joy of being covered in horse hair again - it gets in all the wrong places!!

me too i am going to beg the lady where jazz is to let me clip her as it is bugging the hell out of me.

I have never clipped a horse myself, always paid to have it done. Just wondering if it's easy or do first timers end up with tram lines?

Easy peasey! but practise makes perfect, I used to try a do a blanket clip but ended up taking the whole lot off because the lines were rubbish!

I detest clipping so get someone to do it for me! However Genie's now getting to the point that it needs to be done, but she will have to wait until after our last show of the season at the end of September.

Mine was clipped last Monday -- couldn't wait til September! But she was turning in to a Yak so really needed to lose some hair. I think she'll probably get topped up every 4-6 weeks at this rate, as the hair is already coming in fast.

Gosh George still has a shiny summer coat! I am hoping again to not clip him this winter, he doesn't get too thick a coat and armed with a thermatex for when he gets a bit sweaty we usually manage.

Mine was clipped in July, and now I'll leave it as long as poss - hopefully til the end of October til he sees them again.

No lines for me, I have seen the light, and apart from legs and saddle patch, it all gets whipped off

My pony seems to be doing a fairly good impersonation of a woolly mammoth at the moment, and was dripping with sweat after a ride yesterday, so I'll be clipping this weekend - just a belly/chest clip to start with so he can still be out nekkid.

started about 3 weeks ago. i love it! mayflower, be governed by the coat not time of year. or rug really well.! blackberries are out so coats need doing! horses have a better knowledge of weather ahead than us people. lots of berries so should be a cold hard winter. not a wet one!

My girl has certainly "fluffed up" in the last couple of weeks and needs done before our next comp in a couple weeks time. Got (what I hope is a bargain!) pair of clippers on ebay the other night, so hopefully they'll arrive this week.
