Anyone else feeding hay/haylage yet?

Two fields at my yard have hayledge out already! One is the the school horses field so its just to make sure that they are gettting plenty of nutrients - there is still grass. The other is the golden oldies field for the same reason - sadly my fat 5yo is currently out with the golden oldies lol!

Nope, ive still not moved my lot to there Winter paddocks. The winter padocks are loaded with grass so im worrying the other way.
Ive never had so much grass at this time of year before.

Yes I have been feeding them both hay for the last 4 weeks.

My youngster likes to pee on his which drives me mad, so I have cut his ration down. I am a meany lol

Yep we are. We don't want to move them onto the winter field yet so have been giving them hay in the field, there's not much grass in it and we don't want them losing weight.

I have been putting out a bale a day between my two since mid August - hardly any rain in Essex until this week since July and our grass is not normally that lush/long at the best of times. There is really nothing for them to eat in the field apart from a tiny about of nibbling.

I normally have to start putting out hay end of September/early October for them and then only about half a bale as there is still some grass left.

I've been feeding hay for 3 weeks. Apart from Mon, Tues and yesterday we haven't had any rain for weeks and weeks and the grass just was not growing. It's still pretty warm so, hopefully, the soaking of the last couple of days will make it grow.

I have 2. The big 4 year old is still going without but it won't be long before I start.
The pony has a field with, now very little grass, so she has been having some for the last week.

No I've go the opposite problem, both Py and Mr M are like pork pigs, since they recently moved into the back fields, so no need for any hay or feed yet.

Yes my boys have big bale haylage mainly because one of them is 24 and needs something to eat when he's resting under the trees. There is plenty of grass if they want it aswell.

Yes. We've had no rain til this week for over a month so there's no grass. I want to keep my 2y/o out for as long as possible and at present he is rugless. I started feeding hay last week as he was getting ratty and it instantly calmed him down. he is currently on about 4 sections of hay a day but got some last night as he was out on his own (company over the fence) in the pouring rain - mean mummy!

Is the hay wedged in that massive tyre?

What a brilliant idea! *makes mental note to do the same thing
