I can't seem to get myself out of these damn moody blues. One day I'm motivated to train with my horse then I'm not. Must be the weather. Doctor found my iron count slightly down and I've been rather down and tired so am on iron pills.

Spent 4 months training my horse for a large show last week, rode like a pleb and came second from last.

Just wondered if anyone else is feeling the same?!

Yes me too, always get depressed at this time of year, even worse with all the rain.

If you are down and tired, it sounds like me before I was found to have an under active thryoid.

Have your iron tablets with a glass of fresh orange juice, the Vit C will help absorb the iron. Get outside as much as you can.

I feel the same.

This spring we moved back to the UK after 3 years in Dallas, TX. It was incredibly hot there in the summer, but at least you could lie by the pool with a beer and get a tan. Here is is foul, we even have the heating on tonight and it is AUGUST! I am missing my friends and wondering why we came home.

Rain, rain go away!

I can second the st johns wort good stuff, though check with your doctor if you are on any other medication, as I know it can mess with how the pill works so may for anything else too!
In the short term I don't tend to plan things like riding until I've got up that day and of it's rubbish in the morn i try again in the afternoon! If you don't feel like riding maybe lunge over poles or similar this will be something different for both of you(as long as don't do it already). Or free schooling is another thing I like to do as not only can I exercise my horse if I'm not feeling up to it, we can play games, mines particular favourite is IT! I could go on for ages but basically I'm saying try and make what you can do fun. UK weather is rubbish I'm really hating it to my horse is changing her coat already and I'm having to rug at night, pants for this time of year. Chin up, good luck x

Thanks for sharing your feelings too. I've been lunging my boy as he lost a shoe then had a reaction to his flu/tet vacc. This time I had him done in his chest and he ended up with sore and swollen pecs that s extended to where the girth goes. Seems to have gone down after vet injected him with an anti-inflam and he's on antibiotic powders in case it brews as an abscess.

I ll try and ride him gently this evening as swelling has gone from girth area but will see how he feels.

Thanks Dols, thats a good idea re pole work and ground work.

I'll check out the St Johns wort too.
