Just wondered if anyone else had experience of blue chip making their horse actually settled sane and normal?
started one of mine on it when he dropped weight to get some show condition on him, and hes been so chilled and relaxed since he's been on it (just coming to the end of the first bag) like having a completely different horse at shows (well and home aswell).
hes still a pillock sometimes, but he can actually pull himself together and work properly now instead of going into adrenaline overdrive.

i was warned that it might send him off his trolley (high wheat content) but its done the opposite. perhaps its just balanced his nutrient intake up, or perhaps he was throwing a strop (for the past 13 years  ) because he wanted fancy (bloomin expensive!) food.

either way, i am really happy now with him so onwards and upwards, just wish we had tried it years ago :)
anyone with an adrenaline fuelled nervous wreck(!), avoid the calmers and go straight for decent feed, will make a massive difference ;)

no , exactly the opposite, it turned my totally sane, calm gentle horse into an absolute insane monster. 3 days on it and he was evil, 3 days off it , back to my sane lovely horse. i tried it twice more and exactly the same. He became a total headcase. I binned it, moved him on to brewers yeast and he returned to his normal lovable self.

It contains probiotics so it will help your horses gut bacteria which in turn will help him to utilise the feeds better and process it better which leads to less build up which might cause fizzy behaviour. My horse has it as well and believe me I do everything there is possible to stop him going off his trolley.

We used it years ago on a little nervy welsh pony & I have to say it was marvellous. Pony settled well & became much easier & less jumpy, still retained her eagerness & foward thinking, but much less nervy. A big thumbs up from us!

which feed was it ?

ohh im tempted to try it now but i dont no if i can bear feeding him on £30+ bags of feed !! lol

It lasts a long time, you feed it by the mugful rather than by the scoopful. Its a feed balancer, not an actual feed in itself...

It contains magnesium, that might be why your horse got calmer on it, perhaps he was a bit deficient?

Its good stuff, but there are similar and cheaper products out there which supposedly do a similar job...

not magnesium deficiency. went for a basic magnesium calmer (among others) and sent him worse if anything.
it lasts an awful long time, a bag has lasted us nearly 8 weeks i think (cant remember exact date) so not bad really. if you've got a big hoss though might cost you a bit more :p

It may last a long time but at £40 a sack there are much cheaper ways of balancing the diet without paying for all that marketing hype. I dont believe in gimics- the selling points that it contains a foot supplement, respiratory supplement, etc are all just tactics to make owners think they are getting good value and they dont need to buy other supplements. Stick most horses on a good fibre diet with a vit/min supplement and they do fine without needing to spend £40 a bag!
