My new horse is a complete div!

She tried to jump a 5 bar gate from a standstill, bellied off of it and flipped over onto her right side and got caught in the electric fencing/posts at the side of it (tried to jump into a paddock). After a few seconds of lying there she struggled to her feet then charged round the field in a panic. When she finally stood still I realised she had actually done serious damage as she couldn't stand up properly and her bum kept falling over to the right. Got her in and she promptly propped herself up against the wall. Vet thinks she could have possibly have fractured a vertebrae in her neck as she is standing with her front legs underneath her, her back legs right out to the left and is leaning heavily against the wall :( ATM prognosis is for her to come sound but will possibly never be ridden again.

Can I have some HHO vibes please? :(

Bloody hell i thought this was going to be a funny "my TB is a knob" thread!!

I am sending your girl many healing vibes and hope that she has no long term damage, my thoughts are with you, let us know how she gets on, x

I think calling your new TB a div is a bit lighthearted, considering the fact that she is more than likely very badly injured. Perhaps better to stick to sec Cs, much easier alltogether.
Very apt, considering I have just sold one! I am desperately trying to keep things lighthearted as I am extremely worried about her, just home for a shower and dinner then back to spend the night at the yard to keep an eye on her.

Hope it's not as bad as the vet thinks and she's just in shocked and badly bruised instead! They are silly things aren't they.

Our 27 yo ex racer TB broke down racing, was 'fixed' and re-raced. After not doing that well he was retired, rehomed as a riding horse and in that time he managed to run off with a5 bar gate attached to him - ripping his tendons apart. he has massive bowed tendons and visible scars yet he still seems to get himself in 'situations' mainly with his legs (ie getting caught in fences!!!!!) They're tougher than you give them credit for though so, hopefully she will bounce back! Fingers crossed for you

Massive vibes Sanolly - what a horrible series of accidents to go through. Fingers crossed that she's a secret bruiser underneath it all and suprises everyone in terms of recovery. If anything can, a nutty TB can! 80)

Blimey, wasn't expecting that.
Bloody TBs. God poor you. What an awful thing to happen 2 weeks into it!
Hoping for the best for you, keep us updated!
Viiiiiiiiibbbbbbbbbbbbbeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssss.

Don't be nasty. Have you never tried to be light hearted after something nasty has happened? I know I have.

Eve I hope she is okay, I know how much your horses mean to you.]

Big *vibes* for her and hugs for you.

Yeah mine's tried taking his life many times!! I try not to get too offended! He tried to rip his eyeball out today! Luckily for me and my pocket he didn't, just a huge cut underneath and it's blown up!! He was an exracer too, covered in scars and a nice bowed tendon to match the look! The neighbours must think I abuse him! Must be his way of getting apples off them!

She will be fine. TB's have this brilliant way of keeping themselves alive no matter what they put themselves though!

We had one who got his head stuck in the walker and nearly suffocated (bloody work experience idiots!) He then broke his pelvis. Whilst on box rest he got out and tried to jump through a 5 bar gate getting his legs completely tangled in it (again bloody work experience girl - different one) After he had finished his box rest for his pelvis he got turned out into the field where he promptly tried to jump the ditch and left his back legs in it - no harm done thankfully! He wasn't much of a racehorse so he went back to Ireland to Point To Point where he promptly broke down on one front leg. Came back the next season (gawd knows why!) broke down on the other front leg so retired to hunt. 3rd hunt meet and he does a ligament. If he can live through all of that to be a happy hacker now then your lass still has another 8 lives!

And people wondered why we called him Suicidal Eddie!
