Clippers are serviced, blades are sharp, battery on charge

... and I am dreading tomorrow. I really don't like clipping. I love the finished product and thankfully my horses are super sports and enjoy the clip .... but uuuuuugh, the hair, the time, the stress of lines. Can't wait till it's done!

I like the actual act of clipping the hair off but I hate where the hair goes, I did my Arab yesterday he was not really hairy so it was an easy one but still had hair in eyes mouth and up nose, I looked a sight too as it was too warm yesterday to wear full waterproof clothing so I had the jacket on with shorts and jodpur boots, I never wear a bra either when clipping as you can never get the hair out so its a bin job, I have a lovely big hairy warmblood to do next not looking forward to that one:(

I like the idea of clipping but usually once I've done the first clip of the year I lose the will to do it again! Saying that, I did my mare today and for once didn't set myself a time limit, I had nothing to get back home too so just took my time and I enjoyed it much more. The hairs didn't seem too bad either!!

Which will hopefully give you a bit of motivation for tomorrow!

What's really annoying is I know she'll need doing again within a month :(

I quite like clipping! When you see the big fat splodges of rain going horizontally across the window you very quickly become glad you are the chief clipper and not riding out!

I also loathe it, and again have easy horses to clip, so can't even blame it on them :(!

I don't know if it is because I have always had cobs that require 4/5 clips over the season, or it is the hair and mess everywhere - and trying to do lines just depresses me so usually just take the whole lot of bar legs.

I did one cob a couple of weeks ago and doesn't look far off needing another again, sigh...........

I'm paying a friend this year because firstly I hate it- I'm allergic to horse hair so clipping is awful for me!
Secondly if the lines are any less than absolutely perfect it drives me insane ;)

Haha ... glad it's not just me .

Hairmonster cob was done yesterday (full) -- he always shows lines because he has a coarse coat. He always makes me doubt the sharpness of my blades! He loks lush from a distance but a bit disappointing up close.
Warmblood 1 was done today (full) -- same blades no lines, he looks very handsome so that was motivating.
Warmblood 2 has some healing wounds on her chest from running into something, so won't be clipped at all until the scabs are healed ... There's something to look forward to.
Warmblood 3 tomorrow I hope - he's only getting a trace, will be easy ...

... then my friend's fat and fluffy pony, and finally two quick bibs on livery ponies as a favour because although I hate clipping I am also a mug.

By the time I've done it all and had the blades resharpened, hairmonster cob will probably need clipping again!

WOW! i love your mares matching pink stuff she looks fab :D would love to be able to put similar on mine but not sure how hed feel about that being a boy inal :P

I love clipping just dislike the drive home feeling all itchy!

I'm looking forward to clipping my boy on Saturday and all that hair will finally be gone...

I actually love clipping! I havent done my tb yet but wont be long before he needs it! Last time i did my own and 3 others all free as i enjoy it, even on super fluffy ponies and cobs!! :D

I have a love hate relationship with clipping.. I love watching the smart pony appear ... I hate the hair in my nose, knickers and neck line (and everywhere else).... Yuck... I'm clipping tomorrow too - I've been going to clip every friday for the last 4 weeks but never actually got the clippers out... it's amazing how you can put if off! but yesterday cobbo was literally dripping after 30 minutes schooling.. it's definately time!

3Beasties where is that blue saddle cloth from it's seriously lush?

I like clipping but don't like the vets bill that comes with it as he has to be heavily sedated! Also don't like the fact I'm picking bits of his hair out my bra/ clothes for about a month after!

The vet is booked for end of October as I'm off looking forward to it as he goes a lovely chocolate colour and also fed up of the sweaty hair moulting everywhere look

I love clipping. It's just a shame I am so awfully bad at it!! The YO says I am only allowed to do it in the winter, so that rugs/exercise sheets cover him up and no one sees! She always does his summer clip as that is for showing.

I did my boy on Sunday, however, the clippers broke down about half way through and he looked an absolute sight! Luckily the YO tidied him up on Monday.

I absolutely hate it. I have an ISH that wants to be a gypsy cob and he has hair like three gypsy cobs rolled in to one- but the body of an ISH! He has (well, until i pull and plait it over) two really, really thick manes and his tail is ridiculously thick :p so you can imagine how much his coat grows, and his beard, whiskers, cat hairs, not to mention the feathers :( so he is fully clipped all over to try and fight the cobness !! and I dread doing it, it takes so long, its so itchy and he has to be twitched for his lower legs at times which is a pain.

I can clip mine out leaving only his legs in 1 and 1/2 hours. I do make it a policy not to have arranged to go out afterwards as will have broken nails with dirt deeply embedded, and will still be blowing horse hair out of my nose for the next 24 hours. Did him last week and he need 2 - 3 clips again this season. Last one I do legs as well and that IS a pain!

Try the mane comb to thin it. Brush the mane the wrong way and then simply pull the rake through. Painless and quick. You can buy the rakes on amazon. My ISH is all ID when it comes to his mane but by thinning it like this (and he hates his mane being pulled) it now looks normal!

can't bare it myself, always takes ages to go through the pa-lava of cleaning horse, sorting clippers and extension lead and finding the blades that I sharpened and put away in spring time. All that itchy hair everywhere and then cleaning up afterwards. Really tempted to pay someone else to do it this year, but just know I'll be doing it next week. Bleugh

Hate, hate, hate, hate clipping (with a vengeance). And my mare is fantastic to clip and stands absolutely stock still but I still hate it.

And whatever I wear, I still end up with tiny, sharp little shorn hairs inside my bra!!
