I loved slopping along the lanes on a loose rein this weekend. Muddy horse, barefoot, quiet ,wonderful hack, birds singing, hedges coming into leaf, sun shining. Anyone else enjoyed their horse as much as I did?

Yes :D :D

Both of mine were just wonderful, have already rambled on about them in the weekend thread in C&T so won't repeat myself but I really felt like a very lucky person this weekend. Love my silly supercobs, they are both so nice to have around :)

I've also rambled in C&T but I'll do it here too!

Lesson Friday night.

Threw a yard brat up on Skye on Saturday for a sit... I've now lost my horse!

Sunday she mostly sunbathed, and I realised just how fat she is getting. Oops!

Lovely weekend here too :) think the sun makes everything better.

Spent an afternoon in the pub beer garden Sat, which was very welcome after three days travelling with work . Then clipped out the old lady Sun morning, moulting coat be gone, judging by her itchy faces Doodle also approves of this.

Then dressage clinic with Topaz, who didn't kill me after eating oats  and we got to really work through her spooking in a grown up/ no nannying manner. It was a massive breakthrough and I feel super confident we should be able to get some good work at the AF finals :).

Streamlined non pregnant looking Topaz!

Oh yes! First horseball training session since my accident 8 months ago. Riding my giant 17.2hh very forward going ex racer but feeling completely safe charging round with no reins lobbing balls about. God I love my horses!

Yep! Rode Friday night, Saturday and Sunday. Both horse and companion hacker very spooky Friday but horse is now listening to me a bit more and responding better to reassurance and/or being told to get on with it.
Saturday's ride was a bonus as friend had a 60-mile bike ride in the morning but still turned out to hack later and yesterday was just lovely! We turned them out naked on some longer grass when we got back so they had a whale of a time too!

On balance a good weekend, - horse has had hot foot - suspected pus in foot for about a week -been unable to locate it, farrier came Thursday - took shoe off- 99% sure he found it in the toe - been poulticing etc this weekend, so no riding :-((
but shoe going back on later today all being well!

a good weekend as hopefully solved lameness problem and back to riding this week,
My tow car finally got properly repaired after four weeks (very long boring story - main dealers are just rubbish and old fashioned mechanics are fab and MUCH cheaper!)
managed to do loads of house and garden jobs and enjoyed being outside in this spring weather.

I was on call on Saturday so couldn't ride but did take the dog for a nice walk (all in civilisation so I had a decent signal in case the phone rang!) and then had a lovely day doing dressage on M on Sunday. He is definitely back on form. Only slight damper is Archie being under the weather, but he's improving slowly. Hoping he'll be back normal in a few days.

Yes - beautiful weather all weekend, a lovely morning XC schooling on Saturday then spent the evening in Bath with my OH before coming home and doing some pole work with King... perfect! :D

My weekend was great because I was back in the saddle again:D

After my fall from Kevin just over a week ago and with my broken hand I just hadn't felt like it. Sunday I went on a walk out with friends on my trusty semi retired lad. My hand was fine , I'm well on my way to being healed and I've not even had my fracture clinic appointment, . Loved it.

Ahh nice to hear so many people had good weekends :) (Sorry for the people who were working!!)

Yes :) Lovely weather, nice walk with the dogs on Saturday plus OH had a potter round the fields on J and he was a good boy, he a couple of canters and one spook but he's not sharp enough to throw OH they just ending up giving the scary gate a width berth and carried on!

Sunday went for a lovely 2.5 hour hack round the Harewood estate, OH and I shared the riding. Mist and low cloud turned into beautiful weather, J had one moment with cows he wasn't keen on, saw lots of deer, red kites, kestrels and even a hare.
Then in the afternoon we practiced at loading in a friends box (we've been a bit slack recently), haven't done in it in a few weeks but after a quick sniff of the ramp J walked into the box fine. He normally turns around super quick as he wants to look out the box and then wants to get off (I make him wait until I tell him to step off), but yesterday J was as relaxed as he's ever been. He had a look around the box, happy to turn his head and look out the little windows. We loaded him 3 times and he stood in the correct travelling position and he just seemed chilled out and not on alert constantly. Lovely way to finish the weekend. Hopefully it wasn't a one off!

ETA: We also went out to a brilliant pizza place for OH's dads birthday on Saturday night which was excellent :D

Sounds like so many of you had a wonderful weekend. :)

My weekend was pretty close to perfect. On Friday me and my mum moved our horses away from our current yard to a field that is three minutes walk from where we live. We walked them to their new home so, when they arrived, they were too tired to be stressed and were happy to have stopped at last! The walk itself was lovely - the majority of it was down a bridlepath and there was hardly any roadwork involved.

On Saturday they both had a day off after their long walk the day before. What is so nice though is that we can just pop down to see them three or four times a day. If we had wanted to do that before it would've taken up our entire day - not just a small segment of it. I am very excited for when the field dries up a bit so I can start doing a bit of schooling in there. For now though I am happy to go out on hacks around the village and along the bridlepath.

On Sunday we decided to take the horses out for a short hack around the village. I rode my lad and my mum walked her horse as he is older and needs to build up some muscle before he is fit enough to be ridden. When we went up one of lanes two kids came running up to come and see the horses and one of the adults asked us if there were the new horses in the field on the corner. It appears that both of them are already minor celebrities!

I am absolutely loving having the horses closer to home - I don't know why we didn't move them sooner. I am also incredibly grateful to everyone on here who gave me advice about making the field hard to get into and significantly reducing my worries about the horses getting stolen.

Sunday was a beautiful day so I tacked up to hack out. My mare was so laid back i thought i would go further than usual. That was a big mistake! Part of the bridleway had big haylage bales alongside as a barrier which were obviously Welsh cob eating monsters! My mare spun and unfortunately all her loose hair acted as a lubricant and the saddle started to slip! I came off, the air jacket went off and she disappeared! I hobbled to the road and flagged down a car which kindly drove me back to my yard. There was no sign of her and we stopped and asked every cyclist and walker! Then one of my other cobs called and B appeared on the road followed by three bemused cyclists, the saddle was under her belly! She trotted to me and put her head in my hands shaking and covered in sweat. She had lost one stirrup with leather!
Good things from this;
First fall since i fractured my vertebra 2years ago and I am ok!
The mare who can't work out a track system in her field found her way home from 3 miles away!
People are helpful in a crisis!
I do wonder which route she took home, did she come down the road or cross back into the woods and come back the way she came. I will probably never know!

I also had a wonderful weekend with two lovely hacks including a decent canter! Then spent yesterday evening grooming the horses in the field and having lots of lovely cuddles. Just heaven!

Oh, goodness! So glad she's okay!

Glad to hear you're both ok and v clever pony (at least after being scared of bakes)!

A day dressage calling for friends and a lovely lorry lunch on Saturday, plus a nice hack afterwards. Sunday even better as 5 of us from the yard went for a blast at the local hunt ride - was the bowlout we needed :D :D Fab scenery, great company and another of the ladies did a superb picnic for after the ride too, was a perfect day :D

Thank you for the good wishes pippity and ceriann! Yes I have pointed out to others it would have been brighter of her to not dump me and to have stayed with me! Now I have to train her to go and find the stirrup and leather!!

Yup Friday to Sunday had 3 excellent schooling sessions jumping a bit on each. My horse behaved brilliantly for most of it, only a couple of tantrums but otherwise he was so much better than he has been recently. I am growing in confidence with jumping too (I trust that he won't take off in jumping like how I always assumed he never did really and that by actually riding properly I have full control) and am considering trying a tiny working hunter round with him at a local spring show soon. We shall see how we continue though of course. :)

Yep! Finished uni on Friday for 3 weeks, so that's great. Although I do think someone may have been slipping rocket fuel into H's feeds, he's certainly feeling rather well! :D

Saturday went for a hack in the sunshine, not too spooky and went past a very scary person noisily digging a gravel pile very tensely but listened and didn't freeze/plant or try and turn round. However, said rocket fuel meant he wanted to try and trot the entire hack, and when I told him no he proceeded to toss his head like a L'Oreal model, mostly just made me laugh though :D

Sunday, first XC of the year. Did a clinic at home. Working on going up/down hills and jumping up/down too. Didn't do anything too big, but he was fab, felt like a completely different horse to the end of last season, clearly the winter's hunting has done him good! Got in my head too much about jumping this (tiny!) wagon thing, so I kept no committing and dropping him at the last minute so had 2 stops. Instructor gave me a well deserved kick up the backside and jumped it 4 more times completely fine. I have actually jumped that exact fence a thousand times, but have a bit of a confidence crisis happening at the moment with XC after losing my last horse in a rotational fall in April last year. I have got to the stage where I'm mostly fine riding other peoples horses XC, but am still struggling with my own. BUT this was a good step forward, and I think I just need to keep doing things like that, so I was very happy and can't wait to get him out more!

He makes it look even tinier than it is! It's probably actually about 70-80cm...

Yes, best weekend in ages! Went to a concert Friday night which was amazing. Had work Saturday morning but was super jammy getting given the easiest duty on offer (thank you bosses!) and home by lunch time. Hacked my little horse out in the sunshine on our tod both Saturday and Sunday evenings with no dramas, stresses or hissy fits, just a lovely relaxed and quiet plod about. Happiness :)

Yes, my mare was diagnosed with Cushing's last October and struggled to throw off an abscess for almost 3 months. On his last visit farrier said her feet were the best he's ever seen them. We have had so much rain since Christmas that we have hardly ridden until we did a short hack on Sunday.
Sister's horse has had a cough recently, as well, so has also been off work. We stayed in walk, although both horses would have liked to increase the pace, they were both very sensible, despite meeting a variety of hazards, including miniature goat kids, black faced lambs with their mothers and an enormous, very handsome tup and some escaped poultry on the road, all of which could have provided a good excuse for a bit of silliness. They weren't too keen on stopping to chat with a passing neighbour on the way out, even though, she was offering treats, so they were obviously keen to see a bit more of the world than they have done for the last few months.
It was a real relief to be able to get them out and the lovely weather made it even better!

Not the weekend but near enough. Went out for a hack on my new mare with others from my yard. She is a fast walker so we had soon left the others behind. We ended up doing the whole hack out in front on our own. Few big spooks and a bit of dancing on the spot but bless her she held it together, lady I got her from said she doesn't go in front or on her own . It has given me a huge confidence boost, having lost all confidence with previous horse. X
