Anyone else injured at the moment?

Hu bobandfred. I'm back in the saddle again complete with body protector (-: it's just possible that's it's sooner than advised by the doc but I was getting very bored and unfit. Sorry to hear you've had a fall )-: hope it's not too painful and that you recover quickly. :)
Thanks xx i did have a body protector and helmet. Thank god to my mums paranoia about me wearing a helmet and body protector xx I broke the helmet though. x

Oh I missed this opportunity for sympathy ;-) I detached my tricep tendon and fractured my elbow in a rather pathetic tumble over a horse's head from a standstill! Had surgery on the tendon about 2 months ago, got about a month to go til full recovery! Nearly there! Couldn't resist buying a new horse in that time :-) she's mostly standing about looking pretty...

Lol..I think you've trumped me on pathetic falls! I was trotting into a dressage arena to rehearse my first ever dressage test and the horse tripped over her own feet! First fall ever and I broke! It was so pathetic I almost felt like embellishing it to make it sound more dramatic.
Not too late for some sympathy :D sounds painful. :(

yay to being back in the saddle, i took a friends safe cob out a while back, sadley i still cant hold a rein in the injured hand, and i have no grip/strength (getting on was amusing)

im now awaiting another op as they discovered my originally injured finger is dislocated:eek: i did keep saying it bloody hurt!! i have to have it pinned grrr

aha i feel your pain with this one! Managed to fracture my lower spine in my first ever dressage test..complete with audience/OH watching plus friends and photographer ;) put me off dressage completely :P

I had a burst, gangrenous (sp?) appendix out - does that count? It was such a mess I had to be opened from my breastbone to just above my pubic bone, rather than the keyhole I was expecting!
Very bored now sitting around reading and watching DVD box sets!

2 broken wrist's only 4 weeks into it. 1 plated, 1 wired, 2 more weeks before these cast's come off then the wired 1 may have to go back in cast for another 2 weeks!
I work on a farm and will be atleast another 6 weeks min before I can think about going back to work.
Can't go on my ski trip that I have helped to organise in Jan and even worse can't ride for 6 months!!! :(

Im 8 weeks in with a fractured ankle. In fact today is my 8 week broken ankleversary. I am now in a moon boot - past 2 weeks - so can weightbear. I have a plate and 9 screws, 1 of which comes out in 2 weeks because it may snap in the future.

I've been told I can ride again in/during Easter

Does a broken heart count? :(
My share horse who was due to be given to me at the end of this month was sadly pts the other day due to being very poorly and having a tumour :(

{{}}} hugs. At least with broken bones we can take painkillers.

Thanks for the hug :o

He did break his owners wrist the third time she rode him though :o The make shift school she was riding him in had one end that was a wooden fence and he thought he was there to jump it .. he got very excited :D and sadly she came off ... landed in horse poo as well to add insult to injury, lol :D

Broken hearts take a long time to heal :( I have a rather pathetic injury - I was attacked by an Ifor Williams Tac Pac and it broke my arm. Unfortunately the x-ray didn't show anything at first so it took three weeks before anyone believed me. Got another 2 weeks on plaster and it's driving me nuts as I can't drive so it's tricky getting to the yard.

I feel for you all.......I'm injured too, jumped down from a 2ft seat and both ankles gave way!! Luckily not broken, just very bad ligament damage, trying to get to grips with the crutches I was given, not easy!!!

Missing riding, although able to potter very very slowly round the yard and say hi to the horses.
Funny though my gorgeous grey called Daz tried to prize a crutch off me, now it has teeth marks on it....how do I explain that one when I hand them back!!!

Good luck to everyone's recovery....:)

Hopefully not broken! Stacked it at school, landed on area below patella, hope it's not a depressed fracture. Major agony, can't walk properly. Can't do stairs or bend the knee. My classroom is up 13 stairs. Should be fun tomorrow.

I got taken out by our 2 dogs at end of October - Rottie and Newfie running full pelt, Newfie clinging on to Rottie's neck, straight into me. Combined weight over 100 kg and we know the Rottie can do 40 mph as he's overtaken OH driving a racing go kart! Have done both ligaments in right knee, plus some bits of cartilage now floating around behind knee cap. Have been in giant knee brace for nearly 3 months, another month to go, then back to see consultant. Am trying to avoid surgery like the plague!

Ouch! :( got knocked onto my behind by ASBO cob last year and that really hurt and it was just a glancing touch so can only imagine how much damage a rottie and Newfie combined weight at speed could do.
Hope it's good news at your next check up. :)

I broke my back years ago but now its really playing up having treatment now god knows how long it will take for me to ride my two doctor point blank said no riding for aleast six months. But might do a little ride without him knowing

nothing broken ... thank god, but I have the chest infection from hell! Every time I move I am wheezing like an old smoker! and you try bedding down your stable and having to sit down every few minutes to catch your breath. frigging nightmare!!!!

antibiotics have done nothing .. off back to docs tomorrow for stage 2. Doing my bloody head in, beautiful morning and couldn't even think of riding due to not being able to breath. So depressing.

Get well soon all my fellow equiners, may all your bones knit back together soon and sunshine beam across the gallops just for you and your horse .... xxxx

I've just had a ligament in my knee reconstructed. It's been a week and I still have about 6 months left to go until I can ride next! :(
Fell over at a ski competition though! Not even horse related! :( haven't ridden since September!! :( missing it a lot! :(

My poor OH. Our young 17.2 frisky gelding lashed out at him in fun whilst being lunged earlier and got him in the face

Fortunately the horse doesn't wear shoes, and OH has come out of it with a badly split lit, a tooth knocked out, but by luck his jaw hasn't broken.

Seems loads of folk have frisky horses at the moment :(

I have no idea what I was thinking...or..it may have been the fact that my one lone brain cell had packed its' bag leaving me without so much as a "dear John" letter...which would have been strange anyway since my name is not John.
I was on top of the round bale pile...4 high pulling the tarp over before the real cold of our Canadian winter hit when I thought I might just want to try to fly....only...I forgot my cap.
I fell just over 12 feet bouncing the noggin off the fence before landing on my back breaking the ribs alone the spine.
Whoever said laughter is the best medicine...never had broken ribs.
Now...that was following being hit by lightning (and why you may find my spelling/writing off as I did lose a bit of that skill)..that was an electrifying experience
So...here I sit baked and backed not quite finnished healing yet still able to be a pain to everyone around me since I am presently on stall rest.
That is also why I am here...blame the family....they wanted me to spread the insanity with people while I heal:D

How strangely comforting to find out about other injured types! Seems like there is a lot of pain going on out there!

I am just entering week three of my recovery after an ankle ligament reconstruction. I'm mostly struggling with boredom - something I've rarely suffered from before. I'm out of the cast and into a moon boot now which does help as I can weight bear on it but GOD it's so tedious. Add into that the fact that I'm self employed and can't work and am awaiting a potentially huge tax bill and that makes for a goodly dose of the 'poor me's'.

Hope everybody is managing - healing vibes to all!

Laser beams that's interesting. By ACL reconstruction wanted me moving it as much as possible from the day of the Op. No cast or anything. ?? Did you have a graft then?? Sorry, I'm a nerd and am actually interested in medical stuff! Hope you feel better soon! :)
