Anyone else just LOVE watching other people ride their horse?

I think I might be a little obsessed! I love my mare and ride most days, but I think I might actually love watching other people on her more than anything. Over the years I've paid for others to compete her and just loved being there to watch, and I'm also happy to see someone take a pootle around the school on her. She's super kind and very pretty (I know I'm biased lol) so I just adore watching her. I've certainly never put anyone rough or loud on her, but she's baby sat a few nervous young people who've had nasty moments with their own horses and been an angel. As I've had her since she was 3 and brought her on a lot myself, I am so proud to see her do her stuff and for others to get a tune out of her too. I think part of it is her super talents over jumps, which is a skill I just don't have, so watching gutsy teens fly around big courses with her is always a buzz!

Am I alone in this?
 
I HATE watching other people ride my horse.

In fact, it makes me clench my bum cheeks!

She is sharp, spooky, and coils up like a spring whenever anyone else gets on her. It is nerve wracking and I just don't let anyone else ride her. For my sanity more than hers!

My last mare had a habit of broncing (although not with other people) and I still got nervous in case she did it to them!
 
I love it when he's being good but at the moment he won't go in the school, so i've not had the option for about a year, due to numerous injuries, he's just hacking at the moment, to try and get him to forget about the pain he was feeling. but its amazing to see how well they can go when they are being worked properly!
 
Not ride but drive. Star raced last year with 4 different drivers; two of whom were young lads with not much experience. I loved it because she is such a bombproof racer, basically a point and go from start to finish and one of the lads actually won on her so I was delighted not only for her and me but also for him.

I did actually watch a 12 year old take her around a 1'6'' course of jumps when she'd not long started jumping and had the same feeling. Although with my first horse I hated seeing other people ride her, probably because she was slightly mental whereas Star is like an old plod, even when race fit!
 
I love watching my Horse being ridden by someone else, she is gradually turning into anyone's ride and it's great to see her evolve. She will adapt to the rider from a teenager tearing around over jumps to my novice ten year old pottering around the school on her, not bad for a TB ex-racer! :)
 
Yes, love to see that lovely bouncy trot in person, as sometimes it can be hard to feel like she's moving properly at all when we're having a bad schooling session! Also loved watching my novicey friend do her first little jump on her, such a kind horse. Doesn't hurt that she is an absolutely gorgeous little mare and I could watch her all day :P
 
I'm a little bit selfish and like to keep my pony to myself, though on occasion my instructor gets on if I'm just not getting something as I learn better if I can watch something rather than leave it open to interpretation.
 
You are not alone ! I love watching my homebred ridden and competed. Get a real thrill out of it . Mainly Because I can't ride him as I'm not good enough, and he goes so well for the chap who rides him. It's even better when they bring a frilly home .However , his younger sister is another matter, she is much more sensible, so want her all to myself . Hopefully not long to wait, just a few more miles on the clock ��
 
Not my horse. I don't let anyone ride mine. Apart from my instructor a couple of times. Oh and my niece who I've led round a few times but doesn't really ride.
But I love watching people ride their own horses. Its always interesting to see others riding and how their horses work.
 
Love it! I used to get such a thrill watching a decent player play my ponies - especially my TB mare who used to go so well for everyone but me!
 
I adore it too, although only with decent riders. I hope my horses are well behaved enough to tolerate just about anyone, but I don't like watching the people that aren't good.

With really good riders, it is brilliant to see how they can move and just enjoy how nice looking they are. My younger horse is on loan for the season to a 17 year old and she rides him so beautifully (and jumps so big) - I feel proud of them both, having led her around on ponies from when she was 5.

I'm so lucky to have them - I like other people to enjoy them too.
 
Used to hate and not even entertain the idea.
The longer I've owned him, the more comfortable I've become with letting other people have a sit on him though. He's not the easiest, so I just do my best to vet whoever I'm asking first!

I will let it happen but it absolutely eats me up inside. She's my horse. I haven't ridden all holidays as I have let my very novice but desperate for pony contact children have a chance to ride (and I've taken her shoes off and we're only 4 weeks in to the transition and I thought we should take things very slowly given how desperately footy she still is). This doesn't seem quite so bad. But there was a girl at the yard who was horseless for a while and I thought I'd be brave and offer JimJams to her for a couple of sessions a week. As soon as I offered I was frantically searching for ways to rescind it. There was nothing wrong with the way she rode, or anything, it's just that I absolutely hated the thought of her doing anything with MY horse. Fortunately, she couldn't get her to canter and decided she wasn't for her, so I breathed a sigh of relief.

I think this stems from when I was a juvenile and my mother used to offer my brilliant pony to all and sundry to ride - especially at shows and usually to the cost of missing whatever class I was supposed to be in whilst whomever had been offered a try of my pony was still dingdonging around.
 
I am pregnant and have been paying for someone to ride my horse, and had a friend tick her over in the meantime, if I wasn't pregnant it wouldn't be happening but I wanted to keep her going.
Whilst my friend does a good job she does make mistakes which I find hard to watch whereas the pro that rides her is an absolute joy to watch and I have actually started really enjoying it! Only a few weeks left though and shes all mine again :)
 
I sometimes ask a friend to ride mine to see how he thinks she's doing with her fitness. Love having the chance to watch her, especially in the faster work - she always looks so happy :)
 
I think it's a testament to your schooling if your horse goes sweetly for others. Have only paid others to ride mine if I'm away etc, not compete them for me, but on the few occasions I've watched my boy being ridden by others I've been proud of how he's either risen to the questions asked by more able riders than me or taken care of those less experienced.
 
I like it really although feel jealous when they ride him better. It's nice to see him working correctly and being well behaved. He does cause a lot of amusement for everyone watching when he jumps although i sit there cringing. He is brave i will give him that, but it's scary watching him leap over and me being terrified the rider will fall off. No one *touch wood* has fallen off him yet even with his random cat leaps in the air. He once jumped over a metre high when the jump was 70 cm tops. Stupid horse. Good rider though she didn't leave the saddle at all.
 
I love watching my daughter ride my horse, she makes it look so easy and he goes so well for her, I think he prefers her to me but sadly she hasn't got the time to ride enough to be more than my sharer.
 
I haven't offered. There are lots of people that could ride her very well, but others it would be like watching a train wreck.
It isn't that she is dangerous, just that she is so hot that she is scarey if you aren't comfortable riding that much energy, and a tense rider who tries to get her to be something she isn't just winds her up more.
 
I don't mind at all, especially if it's my instructor who is amazing. He always goes brilliantly for her which I find a joy on the one hand and a bit frustrating on the other when I can't get the same out of him. Today my YO had a sit on him. She hasn't ridden for months for various reasons, but is a great rider and had him going beautifully too. At least it shows he can do it ... Just need to get better myself I guess.
 
I enjoy seeing mine being ridden. My current mare is just about to leave a training yard - backed and schooled a bit (as well as hacked). I love seeing her progress. It makes me realise how much I need to work on me too to get her going well!
 
I do. B puts up with a lot with me, so it's nice to watch him go with my friend, especially jumping and XC. He just loves his jumping so with a brave rider on board, he gets to enjoy himself rather than having to babysit me. It's great to watch him have fun :)

Although we had a jolly good blast on the gallops on Sunday, so knows he doesn't have to look after me *all* the time!
 
I prefer watching videos of myself riding my horse because I find it a useful way to learn and improve. Do enjoy watching my instructor pop her over massive jumps tho!
 
I used to love seeing my mare being schooled and competited(sp) by my rent a daughter. R-A-D is no longer around and I have not been able to get someone to ride my mares daughter maybe something to do with I am off for an x-ray today after falling off her again!
