Not too keen on rain and rain and rain but I love the frosty mornings, getting up early turning out, mucking out and all that goes with it. The woolley horses blowing steamy breath. The frozen water in the hen pen. the frosted hedges. the icey puddles. I just love it all, and coming in for breakfast after a couple of hours doing the stables, steamy porridge bacon and eggs and toast with home made marmalade. Life is indeed good.:D

Whoa! It's positively balmy here in Somerset then... I hate rain. Do prefer the dry cold weather.

I love it! I'm all for frosty sunny days and woolly horses. I'm on part livery so don't have to go to the yard first thing but I actually love doing it - getting all wrapped up and its so quiet out cos there's nobody else around. The girls at work think I'm mad. Can't bear the mud, so the frost is very welcome!

Days like today are fantastic, we are on the top of moor so had lovely sun which melted ice and pipes unfroze, but neighbours below us on east side of hill did not get any thaw at all, and everywhere below is still white over and road really icy.

We have had too many grey/wet afternoons when its nearly dark at 3.30 and hens have to go in early to avoid tempting local foxes.

OH got blow torch to stable tap this morning, and suddenly the pipe and tap are lagged - I have only been asking for weeks if we could prepare for winter !!!!!!!!!!!

i would if i didnt work with horses!
Had no water all day so been dragging water in buckets from the house uphill to the stables, the school froze over last night, the fields are solid and only a couple thawed through the day, there was ice everywhere so i was slipping and sliding and now to top it off OH has decided that if its frozen tomorrow we are taking them to the beach to work. Great. Frozen and soaking wet :(

I learnt to ride in winter and often share horses over winter so I'm used to riding in the rain, wind and cold! Much nicer than hacking out in hot weather being pestered by flies and not being able to do much fast work due to the heat!

Yes and no - winter means hunting, roast dinners and log fires.....but also brings mud, wind and rain, and horses that can be harder to handle/ride!

I love spring and autumn, but hate summer because of the hard ground and flies.
