My boy has suddenly got fluffy in the last week (despite careful rugging!) and it is now time to dust of the clippers and get rid of his woolly jacket! Anyone else clipped already??
My boy has been sweaty most of the summer. With it getting cooler now, and him still sweating, we did a bib clip about 2 weeks ago. This has helped loads.
Ben will have a full clip (leave legs on for hunting, but take off head)
I am having a dilema with my youngster - he is being backed at the moment, and gets quite sweaty but I don't really want to clip him - I wonder if just a bib clip would help?
Will be clipping mine just as soon as I get the clippers back from their service and the blades all ground. I try to leave it towards the end of September as obviously they have to be rugged then and it is still quite warm here at the moment so they can keep keep growing their woolies for a bit longer!!
Bash hasn't started growing his winter woollies yet. I want to try and keep him out 27/7 till beginning of November so need him to stay warm otherwise he'll start stropping to come in at night. He'll get clipped in November when he comes in at night.
zoeshiloh - I have found the bib clip a nice compromise. It might help your youngster with his sweating and will be a nice gentle introduction to the whole clipping procedure.
i fully clipped one of mine a couple of weeks ago, head, legs, the lot cos he was getting hot and scruffy but he was clipped in june too and he is a little showjumping coblet. the other on has to be sedated so i'll hopefully hang on till october
Mine's clipped in the summer anyway but I loathe clipping and shall be putting off the first winter clip til as long as possible!! Hoping not to have to do it til late Oct (that won't happen though!!!)
I have a secret plan - am going to get my weekend groom to do it, lol! I am fed up of being covered in itchy hair and having to wash my overalls about thirty times to get the hair out!
The fluff is coming, but I have one more show to do on saturday (if not cancelled because of the rain) before I can get the clippers out. I'll try to hold out 'till the end of the month - although this year will be less hassle as I have invested in my own clippers.
