Anyone else watching Badminton and cringing?

And another .....
In for a swim this time.
I think if the horse had kept his back legs tucked up over the boat, they would have been ok

Not cringing at all - it's been a tough 4* test with frangible pins taking the brunt. It's been more stops and run outs than horrible horse falls.

Ditto this. It's been tough weather conditions too - it's refreshing as a spectator to see the XC shake things up, rather than repeat the dressage results. It's feels like a 'proper' XC day.

I hope all horses & riders come home safe & sound.

My favourite part of the red button covergae was the woman sitting on the ground elbowing her daughter (I assume) in the back to stop her leaning on her! She's going to cringe that she was filmed doing that!

I saw that too. That Mum is just going to die when she sees it. It's probably all over her FB page already!

The best bit was that she elbowed her, made her get up...then took the blanket the girl was lying on to wrap around her legs!

She's gonna be embarassed when she finds out hundreds of people have seen it!

35 horses completed, only 24 of those were without jump faults.
18 retired on course.
25 were eliminated on course.

I too felt a bit sick with the shaky cam! And I felt there were a heck of a lot of run outs and falls, but equally some great riding and such honest horses.

I was out all day (unfortunately not at badminton!) so didn't get to watch it live, is it on catch-up anywhere?

We had a lovely raucous day watching it at Z's, complete with nibbles and fizz . . . and as we're routing for Team Tapner, we were thrilled to see him put in a fabulous round and finish in first place (with a fence in hand) :).

Uncharacteristic fall from Nicholson on Nereo . . . ditto Toddy and Fox-Pitt . . . lots of tumbles elsewhere and echo whoever above commented on the number of people getting the line wrong into the corners!!!

A very exciting XC day in my opinion.

Totally agree, proper exacting course as it should be and the BBC did a good job IMHO considering the terrible winds.I loved it.

Brilliant coverage, I thought - managed to get all the action! I loved the older Frenchman'z (he's 50) horse, little bay gelding who was so honest - jumped his rider out of saddle through owl hole, rider on his neck around the ears and went on and jumped skinny after owl hole with no reins, nothing at which, understandably, jolted his rider off completely. He was fab, as was Nicola's beautiful coloured mare.

And Nick Guantlet's response was so heartwarming, it was tearjerking to watch!

It was fantastic, I sat and watched it all afternoon. I felt most sorry for the beautiful grey horse - a one word name - who's rider went at the bent hedge thing after the Vicarage Vee like it was the Gold Cup and the poor thing fell at the first bit and slid into the second.
Mainly though was a reminder that Badminton is for the best in the world and we don't want to see a result decided solely on the dressage.

What an epic Badminton XC that was! Beltane Queen was fabulous. There was lovely grey called 'Algebra' (I think) - that was lovely too.

Clodagh - I think Algebra was that horse. It ended up in a ditch.....

Some terrible lines being ridden, very disappointing. Think course just a notch too complicated, no true let up, beyond the capabilities of most of the horses. Not how it should be imho

Agree, a significant number of very experience combinations withdrawing and ditching out :/
