Am in two minds as to whether to clip horse again. I usually go by the last clip at Christmas train of thought. He will be hunting once a week once weather and ground return to normal. Was last done 2 weeks before Christmas so not in urgent need although chin is very whiskery!!

Yes i will prob clip the next couple of weeks so to avoid any moulting, naughty i know but i hate it.

This winter has been a first as only clipped once so far as my horse has been injured its quite a novelty normally its every two weeks or at a push once a month to keep hair free

Ummmm, OH and I have got 5 hairy beasties that need doing, we plan on getting the clippers out next week, dreading it, not our most favourite job in the world!

OH also clips as part of his job, has been asked by a few people today when he is available to do theirs, at least it will make up a few pennies that he lost due to the snow.

always broke I read that as you have 5 hairie beasties and your OH that need doing

OP yes but he is native so he is 'special' and will refuse to loose it till at least end of may so it all comes off feb/march.

I did Stinky on the 2nd - just in time for the snow.

Now that it is starting to warm up, Farra will have her blanket turned into a full clip so I don't have a huge moulting clydesdale, plus I can have a nice summer coat by April or she gets too hot.

Ditto the welsh my niece rides - again to have a nice show coat by May and I will also go over the old pony's blanket clip again as she will get too warm the minute we go back to normal winter weather.

I rarely clip after mid February as a rule apart from a horse that needs clipping all year round - Cairo had to be done all summer or he got far too warm ditto Jemima. Luckily Farra and Chancer have more silky and fine coats than the old two and so far don't need summer clipping.

yep, my sisters native pony needs doing again soon. she gets so fluffy it is unbelievable. she even needs a neck and tum clip in the summer if she is competing lots because she has a very thick coat and sweats badly, new forest x welsh cob.

That made me laugh! OH does shave his head as his riding hat has rubbed bald patches over the years

Years ago his personnal hair clippers broke halfway through, he had too much hair left to use a normal razor on and the shops were shut so i am sorry to say the horses clippers were put into action

Nope, not going to - see my post below for piccys of my boy today

He was clipped at halloween - and looks as though he was clipped 2 weeks ago

I have 3 to clip again but I think the other one will be fine as he just hasn't grown any hair back at all!

I always clip before the end of Jan though as it stops all of that grooming out hair in the spring

Yep, always clip fully out at end of Jan so hair grows back at the same time (I trace clip at beginning of winter). I was going to do it on 27th Dec, so glad I didn't because he has not been ridden since then!

Yes, I'll be clipping soon. I already clipped my horse 5 times since August before her holiday started in November - now she will be coming back into work and she is looking decidedly woolly again!

Nope - clipped end oct and a couple of weeks before xmas - that's all I do. He does moult but tends to retain hair and then moults very quickly over about 2-3 weeks. I don't mind and we're not showing so it doesn't really matter. Don't clip through the summer as he generally has a fine coat - even though he is a Sec D!!

oh yes! started today as thaw has begun!!! holding onto wood! most horses have grown a bit in the last 3 to 4 weeks resulting in the tatty look. clipping now til end of feb at least wont spoil the summer coat!
