As Fiona said every year horse isn't registered it can be downgraded by £50. As the horse in question was still registered in 2006 you can't take off £50 for that year, but you can for 2007 and 2008 (i.e £100 off total) but none can come off for this year (as must be complete year).

That isn't quite right I'm afraid.
With regard to downgrading of BSJA winnings a year means any uninterupted period of 12 months, as with the BSJA if you register then your membership / horse registration is good for 12 months from that date, not just for that calander year.
So if the horse was last registered Feb 06, it can lose £50 for the year to Feb 07, another £50 for Feb 07 - Feb 08, & then a further £50 for Feb 08 - Feb 09.
Therefore in Redred's case where she has £140 winnings, she has got £150 downgrading to apply & therefore can do BRC novice during the 2009 competition year.
