Well to say I'm lost is a understatement!! :(
I lost Ollie on Friday due to him doing damage to his front legs (yes both) that meant he would only be a very light hack or companion at most. Unfortunately he wouldn't have a life, especially not one he would love and enjoy. He was the type of horse that wanted to be boxed for 4 months out of the year and then in every night during the summer. I felt it was for his own mental health to let him go :(
Shall we say, it's the worst decision I have ever had to make and to be honest one I'd rather never make again.
Anyway, I am completely losted with out him! I wake up at 5am to go and do him and then realise he isn't there and then leave work and head towards the yard! Slapping myself each time, as I realise he isn't there to go and hug
I am now looking for something to loan to help fill the great big ginger boy has lefted and failing!
Pointless post I suppose but so at a loss at the moment it's unreal!
RIP Ollie, you will always be in my heart!

What an incredible photo, truely stunning. Hope you get it made into a poster for your wall. Go and visit your nearest rehoming centre and have a chat with them. Your next best friend will be out their waiting for you ...... Big hugs x

PM me if you want a lovely ex racer, sane, chilled, used for nanny duties (although a boy) can be permanently loaned. Is trainers own horse and he adores him so will never be sold. Jumps, hacks, could dressage with schooling, lovely boy!!

Hi Chelle.
Hope you're bearing up - I have been hoping you are coping ok. You gave Ollie the chance that he would not have had if you hadn't taken him. What a superb photo!
xx

Thanks Guys,

I would love another TB but a tad wary as to how fragile their legs are! Ollie blew 3 tendons and 1 liagment in each front leg. So scared of getting another like him, incase I lose the next! :(
If you can prove contray to this, I am willing to listen

Mate, to say he went out with a bang was an understatement! I buted him up to the eye balls on Friday and turned him out for two hours  He had a blast and the last image I had of him was galloping up to meet me at the gate with a huge grin on his face. Couldn't have asked for a better last memory :o

Sorry about your loss.
It makes me realise how lucky I am when I read something like this.

Post whether you are looking to hack, RC, compete ect and some-one may have some ideas for you.

I am looking for a leg in each corner! nothing that has lameness issues, couldn't cope with much more. I am looking for something that is sane out hacking and that is probably about it really. I have no issues schooling and can cope with most in the school but needs to be sensible out in the open :)
Yeah I hadn't had Ollie long and it's such a shock now to have lost him. He has been such a major part of my life since September and he has been such a happy factor (although nuts lol) x

Have PM'd you!!! This chap is no looney, he is laid back!!! - beauty of it is he will not be sold, any problems he goes back to his dad!! No leg problems, he is gorgeous! Nearly had him myself but I would want a lot of competition out of him and he deserves slightly quieter than I could offer but no issues!

Sorry didnt realise you had lost your horse.

(((((hugs)))))

Give it some time then look for another.

Loaning is great but if you are really conscientious it can be a huge worry.

So sorry for your loss. He looked a lovely well cared for boy, whom I am sure will be happy that you made the right decision.
Time is a great healer, and when it is meant to happen a new horse will fill your world.
Lots of hugs <<>>

I am so sorry for your loss, when it happens so suddenly it is so hard but it gets better in time.

As for getting a new one make sure you don't rush into it too quickly and you constantly compare the two. If you truly feel ready go for it, if not see if you can get some rides on friends horses or something similar.

Huge hugs, Ben and Jerrys also really helps :)

Thanks guys, I want to take it slow but don't want to dwell on whether it was the right decision! if that makes sense? My beautiful boy flowered in the time I had him and I am forever greatful to him for it!

ah, thats horrible :( how on earth did he manage to do that amount of damage to himself?
It is believed that Ollie originally injured himself at a point to point yard and it was put down to his flat feet and not tendon! whether true or not I don't know. He was turned away and sold buted to the eye balls and then turned out at his new home. He was then given the all clear before I got him  He then went slightly mad in the field and damaged the other leg
He took to box rest pretty well but went mad for long enough each day to carry on the damage. both left and right legs healed badly and very motled and weak, leaving the legs to weak to do much! The superficial on the right leg was 3 times the size it should have been and that one had healed and been given the all clear by the vet in August :mad:
He also damaged a liagment throughout all this which was showing little signs of healing :(

hi chellebean, oh this is terrrible, well done for making that tough decision though, and don't worry your next pony is out there somewhere...

i have a polo pony looking for a happy hacker home if u r interested? i am in berkshire so close too! pm me for more details if you are interested xx

If you just want something to potter about on until you find another, you are more than welcome to come and ride mine. He is sat in the field during the week looking like a mud monster but if it would tie you over then I am more than happy to help. He is excellent to hack out even though he is a TB. Never had a sick day since i've owned him and that is 18 months now *runs off to touch wood*.
