Weird request of the day . . .

Is there anyone (preferably a few people) out there who would help me with a bit of "research"? Ideally in the "wedge" from more or less the M25 between the A3 and the M3, although that's more for convenience than a hard and fast rule.

I've been experimenting with a "mixed" approach to training/improving/maintaining "problem" horses for years and years, using some very traditional and some rather more, um, out there methods. I've just done the ones that have come along but I've been refining my approach and I'm curious to see how it works with horses doing various jobs and in different situations, how quickly/long results last etc. so I need a bigger study group than I can do as "regular" customers. Ideally I'd like to see a range of horses, from ones with significant behavioural problems to ones needing injury rehab to ones that just might benefit from a tweak here and there.

And, no, I'm not going to outline the details on here. :) Only because it's complicated and somewhat individual and I don't want to get into a debate on the internet. (Although very happy to have as many as I need to privately. :) ) It's more of a "show me" than a "tell me". There are a few people on here (and more in the real world, obviously) who can vouch I'm not a [complete] nutter ;) but I don't want to put them on the spot publicly. The only qualifier is if it's a ridden issue I would need to be allowed to ride the horse. (All insurance etc in good order.)

The idea would be to try it and see. In return I'd like a bit of ongoing feedback. It won't hurt the horse and it shouldn't interfere with anything else the horse is doing, getting treated for etc. No gadgets or drama. :)

I know this seems very vague and random but the whole point is to attract people I DON'T deal with regularly, who don't know me or my methods and have preconceived ideas. I don't want to advertise a service, I want to attract some curious people (and horses) to help me understand and streamline the situation more fully.

If you're curious, PM me and I'll try to explain as best I can. You never know if you don't ask . . . .

If only I lived nearer, I have a v fun pony for you to try - managed to sidestep all conventional and non-conventional methods so far, he still won't walk over a pole on the ground, ridden or in hand  (he is only 25 though..... :D )

Does it have to be behavioural? I have a 3 year old colt who gets very excited aorund the ladies and could do with general groundwork? I am currently doing it myself but if it helps you are more than welcome to him? If ie totally missed the point and this sin't what you want feel free to shut me up! haha

Thank-you for the pm's.:) I won't even try to reply on my phone!

It's not so much general groundwork or NH type stuff, although I do use aspects of that in my general work. More for tension issues, possible physical weeknesses, general 'not right ness', ridden problems, so not so much manners as underlying concerns. Although, as I said, I'm curious to push the boundaries!

I would also like to experiment on a few horses that are generally considered to be going well, to see if they can be made even better!

Ha! Mine fits the bill....Except I'm in Leicestershire, and shes probably far too small at 13.1h.

On a good day shes awesome. On a bad day shes just a big ball of tension, and I just have to trot around on a loose rein for ages. Sometimes legs are fine, sometimes my left leg is OK, but shes petrified of my right leg. Other days its vice versa.

Do you need to have ongoing contact with the horse or is it a one-off?

If it's a one-off I'm happy to bring both of mine over next time you're up here (to your usual lodgings ;) ) - they have numerous issues you could get your teeth into...... :p

ooo im prob a bit dar (j18 m25) but ive got a mare in her early 20's who has off days with her near fore. Not quite lame just a little short and most people say they can't see it but i can feel it. No worries if not what your after or too far :)

(oh and we only really hack if that matters?)

I have three eventers all very different and all have stressy problems in one way or another!!
We are near Marlborough in Wiltshire.

I'll vouch for TarrSteps on this one - my horses have benefitted massively from her imput over the last couple of years. I'd urge anyone within the right area to give this a go if it suits, you just might like the results :)

Yes! Just let me know when your next on holiday down my way ;)

I'd love to see your work and discuss ideas with you if you are ever in Aus and bored.

Please let us know how it goes/ what your conclusions are. However abstract you have to make them to preserve peoples privacy.

Thanks to the people who pm'ed! I've sent a sort of general message, explaining (as best I can) so if anyone did get in touch but didn't get a reply, could you let me know? This forum is not the easiest for doing multiple replies!

You are welcome to do Saf :)

YOU know where to find me . . . ;)

Btw, doesn't look like we're going to be neighbours. :(

Measles and Felicity, you're both a tiny bit out of my commute. But you never know . . . (although more likely to get to Scotland, to be honest!)

ditto m_m, if you wanted to do it as a regular-ish clinic/check up at The Boss's, and she could cope with the influx, i'd be happy to bring my girls. wonder if their ishoos are all in my head...?! ;) ;)
any input would of course be hugely appreciated.
i can vouch for TarrSteps not being a 50 year old truck driver named Bill, too. she's much more that that...

I'm sure TarrSteps could do anything she put her mind to, but I doubt truck driving is on her list of career options currently. And she's no more crazy than any of us on here. :p

Joking apart, TS is a very experienced, knowledgeable individual with a talent for going that little bit further to make both horse and rider comfortable and happy in their work. :)
